Yes, it really is very simple, the Turkish Minister is saying... "there are no HCs in the northern waters so you can share the non-existent northern resource, providing we can share the very real finds in the waters to the south..."

It makes sense to Turkish ways of thinking.

...oh what a relief, i thought for a second that Erdogan had lost, his head, and turned into a Human being.

i suspect that it also has to do with Turkey's willingness to pursue their premise that there is an EEZ border between it an Egypt, of course Greece would have to compromise as well under this pretext, ((lol, so too Italy), Syria, and the rest)), if it is accepted, "Turkey's Continental Shelf".

You mention Syria file, strangely Turkey has had nothing to say about two things Syrian.

One is the declaration in Syrian national legislation for an UNCLOS-max EEZ, which as we can imagine goes well over the boundary in to claimed Turkish "rights" to Turkey's alleged shelf-based exclusive area.

The second no reaction from Turkey to recent developments, it has nothing to say on an agreement between Russia and Syria of a few days ago, to explore for and exploit any HCs in Syrian Territorial Waters.

...the scam, so to speak, is based on Turkey's ability to screw up everyones' individual ambitions by causing the exploration to grind to a halt. like penguins, i imagine Erdogan thinks, one will be tossed in to the sea, so that the others can get on with the feeding; a territory called Cyprus, much smaller indeed, everyone will be happy.

i think you have missed the pot completely. of course cyprus has the right to the resources around cyprus, the question is how far. and gcs will find that out when the first bit of gas is extracted.

lets face it the first world war started becasue the germans were unable to sell pins the the indians.
