I was thinking about installing some sort of extra space heating capacity and, in the process have considered kerosene and wood fuelled stove. I have also looked at solar thermal air heating.
I came across an interesting concept called the rocket space mass heater, a wood burning stove that is reckoned to burn anything up to 80% less fuel as it makes more efficient use of the heat. Has anyone else seen this?
In a traditional wood burner stove much of the heat is wasted, as it just goes up the chimney, but the design of this particular style of stove apparently extracts most of the heat and stores a good proportion of it in a thermal mass. The final exhaust is probably only at 40 c. This is achieved by having an 'J' shaped burner where the flame is induced by draught to burn horizontally and a long horizontal chimney passing through the mass, which can be made of clay or sand or a similar

There are plenty of other sites and videos on YouTube, etc., about them.
Apart from space heating they can also be modified to include water heating capacities, say by including a back boiler or a heat exchanger circuit in the line.
There could be business opportunity for someone with access to steel drums and metal pipes to make the key metal parts.
