Erdoğan is claiming that the tape is a fake; although a well known sound engineer says that it is genuine. The crucial thing is how this will play with Erdoğan's core support, which has so far shown no signs of crumbling.

Well, he was never going to admit to this was he, it's the only thing he can say that it is fake, but he has been busted and he knows it.

Some details on what's on the Erdogate tapes:

In the recording, a man alleged to be Erdogan tells his son to dispose of tens of millions as investigators are searching the homes of relatives of three cabinet ministers "for a big corruption operation".

"OK, so what I am saying is, get all that stuff in your house out. OK?" he says.

A voice alleged to be that of his son, Billal replies: "Dad, could that be? There is your money in the safe." The older man's voice responds: "That's what I mean."

Later, the person alleged to be the prime minister asks: "Did you make most of it vanish?" He is answered: "We haven't been able to do all of it yet. There are about 30m euros left. We haven't been able to get that out yet."

Erdogan described the recordings as "blackmail, being spread via Twitter".

But he admitted his phone had been tapped in what he called "Turkey's biggest eavesdropping scandal of all times".

kurupetos, you really have an attachment to toilet paper it seems, always hoping someone will have some when you need it. beside shitting yourself, the only other interest you have, and want noticed, is the shit like ELam, and your most beloved, "Greeks" as defined by the GD (read, God Damned) Golden Dawn, and your "Greekness". Thank goodness Greece, (and Cyprus), are not like Turkey yet, that is to say, if people like you prevail, there would be only little differences.

Following claims by Erdoğan that he has obtained a report from the American media company, John Marshall Media, allegedly showing that the recent controversial tape of phone call seemingly between himself and his son was fabricated, the CEO of the company in question, John Marshall Cheary, has made a public statement denying that his company analysed the recording and stating that the headed notepaper is not that of his company.

New leaked recording reveals Erdoğan allegedly unhappy about $10 mln bribe

A second audio recording, presented as the voice of Turkish Prime Minister Tayyip Erdoğan asking his son not to accept an amount of money on offer in a business deal but to hold out for more, was published on YouTube by an anonymous poster using a pseudonym on Wednesday.

In the leaked voice recording, uploaded to YouTube and announced on Twitter by Haramzadeler, an unidentified Twitter user who has been leaking voice recordings of high-level state authorities, Erdoğan is allegedly heard talking with his son Bilal Erdoğan and telling him to reject $10 million from Sıtkı Ayan, the owner of Som Petrol, which had been granted tax-free incentives by the government to build new oil pipelines from Iran, saying that the amount was too low.

"Don't take it. Whatever he has promised us, he should bring this. If he is not going to bring that, there is no need," the voice on the latest recording, presented by a user under the pseudonym Haramzadeler as that of Erdoğan, says.

"The others are bringing. Why can't he bring? What do they think this business is? ... But don't worry they will fall into our lap," the voice says.

"We are going to check whether the tapes are fake or not and no statement is planned at the moment," a senior government official told Reuters.

The recordings, which appeared within days of the ruling AK Party's official launch of a campaign for local elections at the end of March, are the latest and potentially most damaging allegations in a graft scandal that Erdoğan has cast as concocted to unseat him.

Late on Monday, his office released a statement describing the first recordings as "completely untrue and the product of an immoral montage."
