Joking apart, and the details are still sketchy, the idea seems to be for members of the Supreme Board of Judges and Prosecutors to be elected by parliament to serve for a fixed number of years. The aim obviously still is to bring this board under greater political control.

Meanwhile, Selahattin Demirtaş, joint leader of the BDP (often considered to be the political wing of the Kurdish struggle) has said that Erdoğan may be imprisoned before the next elections, noting that parliametiary immunity does not apply to serious offences.

There was an item on this morning's BBC Today radio programme that made me prick up my ears. Following claims that Western intelligence had stared assisting the Assad regime in Syria in its fight against cihadists, it was suggested that the West was reevaluating its relations with the current Syrian regime and a number of Western countries were considering sending diplomats back to the country.
This ties in with the ousting of the Muslim Brotherhood in Egypt and current attempts to oust the Erdoğan-AKP regime, these both being supporters of the Syrian rebels, and especially the Islamist wing of this rebellion.

Is the purge of Gülenists moving into the AKP itself? The party’s Cizre sub-province Chair Uğur Özalp along with the sub-province administration and İdil sub-province Chair Rıdvan Özel along with the sub-province administration have been relieved of their duties by the party head office. Bedirhan Işık has been appointed Cizre sub-province Chair, while no appointment has yet been made in İdil.
