Good. There was nothing to talk about in the first place anyway.

Here’s all Turkey needs to know and implement:

UN Security Council Resolution 353 (1974)

UN Security Council Resolution 541 (1983)

Everything else is baloney.

I'm glad that the government is sticking to its line. There's no point in entering talks which will go nowhere. As GR says there's nothing to talk about except how Turkey can implement the UN resolutions. I hope not just the Turks but all interested parties pay attention.

I note the reference to new 'geo-political rearrangements' with some interest...

so long as nasty does go to the meeting terkey does not have to do anything except wait till un announces there is no point continuing with the talks. cyprus problem is over.

that will be their last resolution.

well done boys we are great-full for letting terkey off the hook for the last time. and they thank you too from the bottom of their heart.

Just for once, Lordo, try and not make rash predictions. You have never been right about anything - ever.

It was you who started a thread with the infamous prediction: "talks start in october and referendum in march. finally it is being taken seriously".

Do you remember anything you say?

I can understand why Pres A can't be arsed going round in circles for the sake of it with those two narrow minded twerps.

It must be like trying to have a decent discussion with Lordo!

However, one does have to wonder what the powers that be have to say about it. I'm nit sure they will take the stance any more favourable than these two clowns and their pig headed notions.

We shall have to hope the response to this can only be positive.

Well seeing as the Greek Cypriots have done little more than insist on UN resolutions being incorporated into a joint statement, the 'powers that be' cannot exactly accuse Pres. Anastasiades of being difficult.

Ultimately this is a calculated move given the new 'geo-strategic arrangements' mentioned in the statement in which Cyprus is seen as a strategic ally of Israel, Egypt and the West. As a result, the EU and UN are hardly going to punish Cyprus for not caving into Turkish intransigence...

As I am.aware. I have been following intently. I always find it best to 'never say never' then I'm not disappointed when the worst happens.

Difficult to see any resumption of talks with the current clowns in charge on the Turkish side...

Turkey has exhausted our patience and good will, says Cyprus president

President Nicos Anastasiades has said it is necessary for the basic principles of the negotiations for a Cyprus settlement to become clear and then discuss launch Cyprus’ reunification talks.

Anastasiades expressed hope that there will be a change in the “messages sent to us through the statements by Turkish Foreign Minister during his illegal visit yesterday to our occupied homeland.”

“We hoped that there would be some signs of hope, but I regret to say that what has been broadcast by the media has exhausted our patience and good will,” he noted.

Turkish FM Ahmet Davutoglu argued that a joint declaration between the two communities was not as important as the two leaders having the political will to solve this conflict. Furthermore he spoke about a bizonal settlement, “on the basis of an understanding of the sovereignty of the two component states.”

you actually believe that terkey will change her stance and talks will start again. it was over in 2004 when you voted no. terkey won because she got the tcs to vote for yes.

you lot are just too stupid to realise what is going on.
