Why dont you ask GC who they felt more terrorised by...the Ottoman Empire...the British Empire or EOKA.

An organization which has caused the death of more GCs than the entire British rule cannot be called a liberation organization. It is clearly a radical fanatical organization which in the name of its political ideology is ready to resort to terrorism even against its own people and uses terror to keep people under submission, cannot be termed nothing but simply a terrorist organization

no problem with that view bg_turk. its an opinion one could find arguments to support, even though i dont completely agree.
BUT, there is a fundamental difference between your view of eoka and saying :

its also one thing to say that there were some positive things during the british rule (which is true) but that does not justify them being the rulers of the island.
moreover it is clear in your sentence. if someone is under someone then obviously we have a problem of some being on top and some being under. moreover the fact that it was british and not cypriot is a second reason.

The reason i posted these stupid hindsight questions, when we all know that the past cannot change is that hopefully each would try to view the mistakes of his own society without accusing the others. so , since we cannot change the past i think it helps when we can:
- accept our mistakes
- apologise for our mistakes
- learn from our mistakes
and if you see the first posts from alexios piratis and birkibrisli there is a degree of self-critisism and not accusing the others, which i strongly believe that it is the attitude we need do move in the future.

A. If I were a Turk of the day I would have lived through the days when the Ottoman Empire had crumbled and Turkey was formed. The Empire was taken/won/given/reclaimed and Cyprus was now British. I would say the TC of the day would feel tired, scared and conquered.

Q. How do you feel about AKel stance not to participate?

A. Participate in what! The aim of ENOSIS. Despite the argument most GCs use, that the TCs were a minority why would the TCs want to annexe themselves to Greece. Out of the two options of course they are going to opt for TAKSIM.

Q. Were all eoka members’ anti-tcs or some did really fought for their freedom?

A. EOKA proved them selves to be anti anything that got in their way.


Q. Despite the fact that the general view is that TMT was a response to EOKA would you support its actions and goals?

A. If I was in the mind set of the day, YES!

A. I have no idea.

A. Most sensible GCs already accept that the target of ENOSIS was wrong. If forgiveness is all that is required, then I forgive. Is it all right to recognise the TRNC now?

Q. What would you change if you could? no eoka at all? or a pan-cypriot anticolonialist organisation?


A. A pan-cypriot anticolonialist organisation sounds more romantic to me. Fighting along side my GC brother against the British colonialists and finally kicking them off the island. How long would it be before Turkey and Greece would start to lay claim to the island what group would we put together to fight those two off?

What is this about a party being planned for summer?
Will it be open to everyone,or by invitation only?
