I have only been back a matter of hours but seriously some people really need to get their heads out of their asses (in my humble opinion).

If certain people were to spend half as much effort in actually trying to solve problems in Cyprus as they spend in constructing convoluted logic and specious arguments in a vain attempt to try and convince themselves and others that there aren't any problems in Cyprus in the first place, we might actually have a chance of creating a Cyprus that is better for our children and grandchildren tomorrow than it is for us today ! Be it illegal bird trapping, policing, racism or anything else - the effort spent in trying to deny there is any problem at all is incredible. No wonder we are in such a mess. Seriously - get a fucking grip ! What is this ? The land of denial and delusion ?

I agree that this may be true about some people who post here, but it is also true about YOU!

Some of us are more than willing to accept some sad facts about Cyprus and are willing to take some constructive criticism but you are just in it for the bash on Cypriots (GCs in particular).

Really ? I mean really in regard to you specifically Paphitis as I know there are Cypriots able to do this (in general and on this forum in particular) and I just want to head of the 'straw man' distraction argument along the lines of 'your are saying no Cypriots can accept sad facts about Cyprus'. Really ? Care to show examples or even a single example ? Historic or if you like new (start a thread maybe) ? I am genuinely interested.

Is that really my objective ? Or is this not just an example of the very symptoms I am trying to highlight ? Does not every poster here who posts consistently critical analysis of Cypriots fallings and weaknesses get written off in the same way (I am thinking historically of posters like Bannaniot). If my (and posters like bannaniot) only real objective is just to bash on Cypriots , then it is a pretty strange form of self abuse - which brings me nicely to

I am one of those posters who many gang up upon, like they did to Bananiot, and many more because I regularly post about Cypriot inadequacies which I do not believe should be swept under the carpet.

But, I hang in there and survive and give them plenty of stick.

It is still wrong that you should judge Cyprus as anything less than civilized or compare them to some superpowers. Cypriots are a very unique people, and I can tell you that some of the qualities they do possess are not as abundant in some of the other "more civilized" countries.

Erolz you cannot go around trying to solve problems by painting them all as so bleak and hopeless and only due to Cypriots and their culture or psyche. Bananiot did this until his negativity argument proved unsustainable.

Cypriots have been here the longest time. Surely they have done something right?

Can you tell us anything you feel happy with that the Cypriots have done right?

(Of course, this *thing* that they have done right must be specifically due to Cypriots, or their psyche, in order for it balance off one of those things that Cypriots do wrong due to their Cypriotness.)
