If that's the case lordo, why do people like this exist ?

If only the will of the people could overcome the politicians to break down the damn walls and fences.

Yes, lordo go ahead and mock my rose tinted glasses.
I've wondered, do you mock because you have never loved and lost? Are you sat pretty in somebody else's home? Or do you mock because you are scared you won't have the last laugh when you have to find another rock to throw insults from under?

Turkey and the Turkish Cypriots need to be told in no uncertain terms that the "trnc" will never be recognised no matter how much they "change things on the ground"

We will probably have to wait until the Turkish economy goes tits up before an international leader has the balls to tell Turkey to get off its high horse and loosen its grip on Cyprus.

I think we have to be more proactive than waiting for the Turkish economy to implode. Or expecting the international community to come to our aid. Now that Turkey has made its intentions clear, we need to present an outline solution that includes all our red lines and insists that there will be no negotiations unless Turkey begins implementing the Kyprianou-Denktash Agreement on the return of Famagusta. And if Turkey refuses to implement the agreement then we must block all of Turkey's EU accession chapters and not open one until they are serious about meeting our terms for a solution. There is no more point in hanging around waiting for something to happen. That is exactly what Turkey is counting on.

GCs cannot be proactive because finding a solution involves compromise which they are unwilling to do as they have no genuine desire to share this island on equal terms with TCs.

I thought that was already happening, The RoC has already blocked chapters. I doubt very much they will unblock anything until Cyprus has had the buffer zone torn down and its people (all of them) given the rights they deserve.

And Turkey firmly out of its business.

It's literally a game of chicken, the little people are bored of it.

Cyprus quite happily lived with each other some years ago. They can again.

That is nonsense. Greek Cypriots have accepted the notion of political equality. What they are not willing to do is allow Cyprus to be run by a proxy minority who act on behalf of Turkey and who exercise effective authority over the 82 per cent majority. We do not want to live in an apartheid regime, thank you very much.

Horse dont you think that two much water has passed under the bridge, shouldnt the past 39 years be proof enough that having 2 separate areas for people to decide under which administration they wish to live under is the best way to solve this issue.

So your problem is allowing us power to have an effective say, do you really believe that TCs would use this power against their own benefit and for the benefit of Turkey then you know nothing.

It's not just about EU chapters. That would be pointless. It's about formulating an outline solution including the opening of Varosha and linking acceptance of that outline solution to Turkey's EU accession course.

We should make it clear that no EU chapters will open, ever, until an agreement or serious negotiation can begin on the basis of our red lines.
