That's why the British markets (Waitrose, M&S etc) are so stupid to keep buying figs, wine etc from Turkey when Greek produce is far superior and often grown if not organically, in semi-organic conditions as a matter of traditional routine.

I'm sure the pesticide levels in turkish produce reaching EU countries just scrapes through the permitted 'safe' limits. Since their farmers are mostly illiterate, they are not going to have a clue how to use pesticides correctly to limit harm to the environment and end-users!

Genocide of insect life in store ...

I always look in the market for irregulat looking fruit and veg ... and if there are insects on it even better - 'organik' is often a lie here anyway, unless you know the origin buyer beware
