People such as you who think writing about the
good things of Cyprus is "bollocks", should stick to those turkish-run forums.
Or use their land......
Use "their land" if the RoC says you can. Halali sou, I'm sure. Just stop moaning about other Cypriots.
It's people like you that invite all the negativity about Cypriots.
Learn some manners and try to appreciate other people's right to express an opinion about Cyprus which is either positive or negative.
There are negatives in any country, and if you want some kind of change for the better, then people need to discuss these negatives as well as the positives. No one here hates Cyprus or the RoC, other than 1 or 2 TCs such as Lordo and Viewpoint.
Sure the Brits can complain and compare Cyprus to the UK. But if they truly miss the UK, they can always go back but they choose to stay in Cyprus. Frankly, they are no threat to Cyprus, you, me or anyone else. In fact most of them are quite nice people and they appreciate Cyprus for what it is. We should be more concerned with the crappy so called "Greek" Pontians which managed to somehow get hold of a Greek Passport and now settle in Paphos. I may be a bit racist, and I am the first to admit that, but something about them just does not sit well, whereas I could share a nice beer with most Poms!
I am afraid it is you that needs to relax and be the nice person I always thought you were. You should be more yourself online!
Now, I find it hard to believe that either you or your husband have never complained about things in Cyprus. If that is true, then why do you live in the UK, since Cyprus is so perfect? Could it be that many things in the UK could be a bit better? If so, then why not try and make them better?
If they were better, then maybe expats like you and I would return tomorrow!
Fact is most of us complain about something. Even the most fierce Cypriot complains on a daily basis out of frustration. Many are sadly getting out and there is a new wave of migration towards Australia and UK which I think is unfortunate. But what is a youngster to do if they can't get a job?
Anyway, how did Cyprus find itself in this position? I don't know about you, but never in my wildest dreams would I have predicted such an economic decline. Maybe that is one of the issues. We can be a little too cocky at times when the times are good. We forget where we came from. As a result some Cypriots did not value their inheritance or their Pappou's horafi. If everyone sells then what is left for the next generation?
I will tell you a little story. My father valued education (typical Cypriot) very much and he spent an absolute fortune on me. It got to the point where he ran out of money and had to sell property, so he sold my Yiayia's house which would have been an incredibly difficult decision for him. He sold it, and I remember telling him, that I am going to get that property back (which pleased him). My Pappou was a vraka and worked his fields every day I am told. I never met him but I did see Yiayia a few times before she passed away at the age of 97. She was blind and I remember the way she would touch your face to recognize you and how as a youngster she would give me 10 pound. These people were golden. Best person I ever met because she was so innocent and the sweetest thing to walk on the planet I reckon.
All this is about looking after our own.
