Does anyone get clothes delivered from the UK?

Postby rosalinejones58 » Fri Oct 25, 2013 4:08 pm

Hi all,

Has anyone had clothes delivered from the UK? If so... which retailer did you order from? Were postage costs reasonable?

Thanks

We have used John Lewis and Boden. I think Boden charges something like six quid a parcel. I cannot recall for John Lewis except it still ended up a lot more cost effective than buying in Cyprus.

M&S won't ship online purchases to Cyprus due to concession arrangements with M&S in Cyprus but they will ship for orders placed personally in-store.

We are thinking about using Tesco.

Don't however restrict your shopping to the UK: we have also purchased in France in the past.

I always bring childrens cloths from the UK when I visit Cyprus. Im coming over next Friday and apart from cloths Im bringing ....Halloumi!!!!
£5.99 PER KILO !!

It is ludicrous that foods produced in Cyprus cost almost double that in the UK.

I will also bring almonds,( too bloody dear in Cyprus) I make the kollifa for memorials my self as the local church charge 50 Euros !!!

The memorial cost in London including kollifa and bread costs £15.00.

It seems to me that Cypriot prices have gone sky high.
Take locally produced, and very average or below, wines. !!!

Since I do not have to bring any cloths, I have all I need in my Limassol apartment, I fill my suitcase with goodies, anything from Cheese, chocolates, Italian salami and Parma ham, bacon and good old English sausages.
I will not however emulate my older and rather eccentric brother who brings, amongst other things.....toilet rolls !!!
Almost forgot, Viagra too

Oh, I have something in common with your brother. I always stock the car boot up with toilet rolls whenever we visit France to bring back because they sell scented toilet rolls as normal. Lavender scented toilet rolls are my favourite. :D

As for your other purchases which you presume are cheaper in the UK than home-produced Cyprus ones: are you sure the halloumi is Cypriot and not Turkish or made in the occupied regions? And the cheap almonds (probably from California) are not as juicy as Greek or Cypriot almonds, for sure.

Pittas halloumi is the worst you can get. No wonder it's sold by Turks.

Thank you for all the comments!
For anyone interested, I placed an order with Amazon and Cotton traders - both deliveries have arrived and I'm pleased with the respective services! :D
Postage was £14 for both.
