WHY I NEVER FLY WITH CY AIRWAYS

Postby miltiades » Sat Oct 19, 2013 7:47 am

Just booked my flights for my next visit to Sweet Sunny Cyprus, the greatest place on earth, my motherland, my Cyprus.

I used "flights" rather than singular flight as I generally book the outgoing and returning flight with different airways, on many occasions it works out much cheaper than booking a return flight.

I looked at Cyprus Airways for their prices for a return flight from November 8th to November 17th.

Their method of pricing is ludicrous and does annoy me a great deal. Which Plonker decided that the price shown ITS NOT WHAT ONE PAYS at the end, No doubt the same Plonker or Plonkers who have driven Cyprus Airways to the ,,,ground.

Their total price £282.00 , now for November this is ridiculous, so I booked a single flight with Easyjet at £31.99, Yes £31.99 and my return with Thomson flights at £ 93.00 making a total of £125.00, a staggering £157 less that Cyprus Plonkers of an airline. I could understand it if they, the Plonkers , were profitable but they are broke !

The difference in price will give me another flight later on, so its ...buy one get one free, and change too!

Milti,

You are not comparing the same things!

Cy Air is an all inclusive airline. They will provide you with meals, coffee, alcohol, and drinks. On the other airlines you mention, you will be charged for everything! That is about 30 Euros in value per person.

The other no frills cheap airlines also restrict your baggage so they can load as freight which they rely on for their profit. Freight is more lucrative than passengers. If you want to check in baggage abovea certain weight, you will be charged an extra 50 Euro.

Now do the comparisons!

But I agree that Cyprus Airways Management are plonkers. Previous governments use to give positions to anyone they wanted. That and there were no codeshare agreements, and they are operating the wrong aircraft.

They should have E-Jets. Perfect size and super cheap on fuel.

Cyprus airways do provide you with a meal, but you have to pay for your alcoholic drinks. They also allow you luggage up to 20 kg.
Since I do not bring any cloths to Cyprus, only treats for the children I do not require more than cabin luggage.

I don't eat on any airline Im diabetic and bring my own ...halloumi sandwich.

The Cy Airways price you can see your selves on their side, you can also check out the Easy jet price as well as the Thomson return flight.

The difference, however you look at it is phenomenal, a thumbing great 125% ie £157.00.

Did you know that Cyprus Airways DO NOT accept debit cards, at least they did not some 2 years ago when I booked a return flight from Larnaca, only ...credit cards.I know not of any other airline that does not accept debit cards, I hate credit cards, I don't have any and never will.

The £125 I paid is for a return flight using Easyjet to Paphos and Thomson from Paphos to London Gatwick.
Check it out.

You are still comparing apples and oranges. Paphos airport, Gatwick, bloody hell.

If I wanted to pay for sex, I can have a high class bird or cheap tart (in Belarus), I get the sex, but the ride and destinations will be different.

Milti, since you shacked up with the russian chick, you have become a cheapskate! :)

Both Easyjet and Thomsons are financially healthy and more likely to pay closer attention to their aircraft maintenance. Cyprus airways is sustained only by government hand outs.

When minor things are broken on their planes, ie the coat hanger and their listening devices then I get a little edgy.

I resent your comments about my lady friend, kindly withdraw before I lose my temper.
Since when did Cyprus airways offer free sex on their flights ?

Money that I earn I have to work for, I do not wish to throw it away, hence I can afford to indulge in regular trips, drink fine wines and spoil my grandchildren. I do not wish to give it to CYA and neither should the RoC continue throwing good money after bad,Cyprus Airways is grossly mismanaged, have been losing money for years and in refusing to accept debit cards ( they did 2 years ago) have shown themselves incompetent in a very competitive industry.

There are more than 250 thousand Cypriots in the UK, they should have monopoly on flights to Cyprus but instead they follow British Airways prices, how dare they, BA is a profitable airline and can afford to charge what ever they like, CYA is not.
A bunch of first class PLONKERS !

Milti, am I supposed to be shaking in my boots if you lose your temper?

The comment was not directed to your lady friend all the same, it was a sarcastic remark, I'm sure you understood this.

All the same, I will withdraw it, as we don't want the great Milti, losing his temper now do we.

I was bored this week and decided to find out how much it would cost for a holiday because I hate Christmas. I nearly fell off my chair :o

Once you add up the cost for the privilege of taking luggage, eating, drinking, not having to take a train to and from Gatwick or end up on the other side of Cyprus (for me anyway!). Plus not having to sit amongst drunken Brits ( I prefer drunken Cypriots!) Then the difference is not so great.

So I gladly pay the difference and go with the national carrier. Plus for all CA’s faults I feel I'm contributing to the Cypriot economy and not some dodgy Irishman and his shoestring operation!
