What an incompetent badly run loss making, irrational not national, air carrier. Give it to Stelios he will turn it round !!
Stelios is creeping up the ladder, getting routes as they become available, but he's not going to call it Cyprus airways is he?
But EJ prices can be very reasonable, and the flights are better by a mile than Thomas Crooks or Thomsons that fly tourists in the season. Cleaner, more efficient, on time, and IMO safer.

How did you come to the conclusion that EJ are safer? I am curious?
Im sorry to see our badly managed national carrier going out of business after 69 years. The warning signs have been around for many years now. They seemed oblivious to the demands of the flight business. Most people want a safe airline, and certainly CY were a safe airline, but also want value for money. To be consistently more, in fact much more, expensive than Easyjet and other flight operators flying from the UK to Cyprus , was totally unacceptable. I gave up flying with them years ago, not only by their high prices comparatively but also their continued stupidity in showing a fare price only to double once you clicked on book now.
Another stupidity was the fact that, maybe they recently changed, refused to accept Debit cards !!!
How ridiculous was this !! Only Credit cards accepted !!!
The airline was mismanaged by self motivated individuals with ulterior financial motives.
Let us hope that in the not too distant future Cyprus Airways will resurface and commence trading again.

Actually it's not unnaceptable at all. EasyJet is a LCC, CA is full service Business Airline.
You're not comparing like for like.
You also flew with Thompson at one stage. This is an airline I don't even want to see in Cyprus let alone fly with.

Therefore I should pay twice as much and sometimes considerably more because CA was a ...business service. I do not look at it like this, but a journey lasting just over 4 hours that brings me to Cyprus safely with quite a lot of dosh as a saving.
The fact that CA is now out of business does prove that incompetence, high prices, misleading price structures, have contributed to its demise.

Don't exaggerate!
They were never twice more unless you booked a couple of days before you flew.
They are only a few Euros dearer after you buy your baggage addons and so forth.
Additionally, you wouldn't be supporting unsafe work practices, and exploitation.
I've traveled with CA a bit and always found them to be very reasonable.
Mate, I fly to Cyprus about 7-8 times a year, Im rather an old hand at finding the right price, most times CA were excessively more expensive than other airlines, not only twice as much but on many occasions a lot more .
My older brother comes to Cyprus at least once a month, I will always book his flights so I do know what Im talking about. He is in fact coming here on Jan 26th, EJ at £74.98 RETURN !!! Just as I, he does not need to bring luggage along, we have all we need here in Cyprus.

No not excessively at all.
They were charging pretty standard prices. Air fares to Athens were under 200.

The problem was bad management, not fare prices. A state is not supposed to run businesses, like airlines, telecommunications, and power companies.
