What irks me the most about these companies is that they do not pay their pilots enough.
Cyprus Airways pays even less unfortunately, while there is an abundance of middle management koumbaroi of Christofias dead wood and complete good for nothing waste of space!
Cyprus Airways will sadly fold and a new airline will take its place. That is the only way all the workers can be sacked cutting the shit out and thus allowing the new airline to re-employ who it wants whilst the other leeches piss off to the unemployment lines and good riddance to them.
Sorry to disagree with you, but when Concordes were still flying, Cyprus Airways pilots were earning more than Concorde pilots.
I know a few CY pilots, including one who also now owns numerous Chinese & Japanese restaurants here, all financed by his CY pilots salary!
That's not what I heard. FO is 5000 pm and Captains are at 10,000 pm.
Market is 20,000 pm plus.
Having said that, I was offered a job in Greece with Olympic Airways in 1996 on B737-400 as an FO with 300 hours. Start was 450,000 drachma per month which equates to 500 AUD per week. I would have taken it if it were not for another opportunity.
How did I get that? My Godsister's husband was a top surgeon and knew the PASOK Minister of Health. I sent the Minister my CV, and got a phone call from Olympic for an interview and sim check. Had a contract in front of me within days!
I know that in the late 90's most of them were on over CY£90K including all their allowances.
In Greece it was 450,000 drachma per month for an FO. Captains were on 2 million per month.
Wbich equates to about 90k. Today Captains at Cyprus Airways are on 120k. It is not high in the market place in the current environment. Cyprus Airways Captains could walk into Emirates, Etihad, Saudi, Gulf Air, Cathay/Dragonair, Qatar et al and double their wages as a minimum.
90k is pretty bad CBBB for A320 Captains.
