Cheers

Must be a steak thing up there.
Linos Inn in Kakopetria served the best steak I ever had in Cyprus.

I generally love the villages south-west of Trodos (I can't say Ayyanni :D ), such as Aynikola, Salamiou, and Vreçça.

Are these inhabited or abandoned?

I am not familiar with them so would appreciate more detail and maybe some photos if you have any.

Vreçça is abandoned, while Ayyanni and Aynikola's Turkish-speaking populations were displaced and replaced by Greek speakers.

There's some good info on these sites

Don’t you find it strange that Muslims (TCs) occupied a village called Saint John or Saint Nicolas?

So the question really is… whom did THEY displace first?

Themselves, meaning they became muslims, like Lordo's ancestors.

For once, I agree with you. There are very few Cypriots in my family that look Anatolian and the dialect of Turkish spoken in those villages is especially unique, so we're probably converts.

Salamiou, Platres , Droushia, Ineia, Kathikas to name but a few

Damn I wish I was there right now ..... Oh well only six days until I am back for some Cypriot respite before another 6 weeks in Pennsylvania, New York , Ohio, Tennessee , Arkansas , Oklahoma , Texas and Colarado - which sounds a lot more fun than it will be.

The one bright spot on this next journey is a long thanksgiving weekend just outside Telluride in the Rockies whose multiple 3500-4000 mtr plus peaks are just spectacular.
