Turkey is going to hit someone around here and her time is going to be up, she will be no more.

Oh the good old world of politics.

Call me a cynic, but I just read this

http://www.gaystarnews.com/article/cypr ... code081013

Election campaigns, negotiations, ascensions, and chapters, all have politicians falling over themselves to look good, and what better way to appeal to the voting public. Usually in the form that grates on some people that feel 'isolated' or 'discriminated' against.

Except that lifting the ban on wearing Islamic headscarves in Turkey is tantamount to going backwards. It doesn't protect rights of minorities but it allows the 99% Muslim majority to be forced to adopt the headscarves either for themselves through psychological pressure (and worse) or enforce it on daughters and wives.

Hold your horses oh my lords of war.

In International Law there is something called: Harmless passage. This means that a war ship may pas through the territorial waters of another country provided it abides by certain rules, such as, steady speed, deactivation of weapon systems etc.
(See for instance the relevant law of CY)
http://www.cylaw.org/nomoi/enop/non-ind ... /full.html

Turkey is abusing this right quite often and Greece retaliates (I was eye witness in 1997 near Kastelorizo).

The particular ship went there today in order to monitor the exercises of the Greek and the Israeli air forces. Andros was the area of the anti ship activities.

The Turkish ship was followed closely all the way till it left the Greek waters by a Greek Frigate.

According to www.defencenet.gr the Greek and Israeli air forces decided to interrupt their exercise till after the Turks left so that the latter would not be able to monitor techniques, communications etc.

Thought so. What stopped the Israeli and Hellenic Forces using it for target practice? :)

Activate their air to surface radar modes and let the Turks record their electronic signatures? Especially those of the F-15s? And be prepared for when the real thing happens??

...in my mind Erdogan is looking for war, any war, like his political life depends on it.

Yeh all talk but no walk!

You can't expect Israel to do anything when the Greeks are clearly not prepared to do anything in their jurisdiction!

What do you think the Israelis would do if the Turks parked up in Israeli Territorial Waters? Why do you think the Turks didn't follow through with their threats against Israel just after MAVI marmara? Because the Israelis would create some new artificial reefs that's why!
