Flaouna cheese? :?

I telephoned a Cypriot relation to ask for the name of this cheese, Flaouna Cheeses she said!!!
No other name for it.

Last time I was in Cyprus I found a couple in a supermarket at reduced price, about 12 euros for the whole cheese, weighted about i.5 kg. I bought both and I eat them regularly either as is or in a toasted sandwich, lovely cheese.

during easter in Cyprus a special cheese is made for flaounes, that cheese is identical to mozzarella..the cheeses one uses for flaounes are halloumi and mozzarella or for your benefit "the special cheese made in Cyprus during Easter"...ok satisfied?

Let me disagree ! The Flaouna cheese is nothing like mozzarella, does not look like mozzarella nor does it taste or melts like mozzarella.

It is found only in Cyprus and just like..... kalikatzarous appears once a year.

Here is a word, perhaps only used in Paphos, maybe elsewhere too but I find this word rather excitingl and absolutely unique to the Cypriot dialect. The word ? PORNO ! Accentuation on the last O.
WHO KNOWS THE MEANING ??

I found one truly unique Cypriot word: 'Kotsiros' (Greek: 'Κότσιρος', Charlochoirokitian: 'Gotsiros')

 :D
