The poor fool is trapped in WWII movies and documentaries. :)

He's a Greek who doesn't want to be Greek yet here we have Cypriots who don't want to be Cypriots but Greeks!

Some people just don't accept reality and insist on living in fantasy. :?

Ah well...

That's not enough reason to put him in jail though.

Shouldn't he at the very least be imprisoned for rejecting hellenism and so fervently embracing Nazism? :?

He had a lot of ancient Greece material as well, if you bothered to notice it.

I don't the the 1936 Berlin Olympics poster of Hitler counts!

"golden dawn" Leader is Remanded in Custody ...

..." ATHENS — The leader of the extreme-right Golden Dawn party was returned to custody on Thursday after appearing before a Greek magistrate on charges of setting up a criminal organization, part of the government’s crackdown on a party described by Greek and European authorities as neo-Nazi and violent.

The magistrate’s order to remand Nikos Michaloliakos, the first political party leader to face jail since Greece’s seven-year military dictatorship ended in 1974, came a day after three of his fellow lawmakers facing similar charges were released from custody and told not to leave the country, and a fourth was ordered held pending trial..."

Another Remanded in Custody

Στη φυλακή και ο Χρήστος Παππάς

Also led away in hand-cuffs after magistrates remanded him in custody is "gd" deputy-leader Christos Pappas, (the chap in whose house were found guns, ammo and knuckle-dusters earlier this week).

A little something from greekreporter on the poor show of support for the "golden dawn" leaders today...

"... Party leaders had called for an outpouring of support but only a smidgeon of backers showed up at the court as backing for the extremists fell 2.5 percent in the aftermath of the killing of a 34-year-old hip-hop artist for which a man police said was a party member was arrested.

Even when party spokesman, Ilias Kasidiaris, along with two other Members of Parliament, Panagiotis Iliopoulos and Nikos Mihos showed up to support their leaders at the court, only about 40 Golden Dawners were there with them. ..."

I think it is pretty much all over for GD.

Firstly, they will be outlawed as a criminal organization. There is no come back from that! Whoever is left standing will need to form another party, and they will not have the same support.

Even if GD are not outlawed, at the next elections, they will decline to their 2 to 3% supporter base.

They made their own bed didn't they? :D

Yes, quite file.

Ekathimerini has news of two further "gd" remanded in custody, including a "policewoman"...

"... Giorgos Patelis, the head of the party’s chapter in nearby Nikaia, and a female police office based at the Piraeus precinct were also ordered to be remanded yesterday, the latter at Elaionas Prison in Thebes and the former at Malandrino Prison in central Greece..."

... and news of new arrests today...

"... A police investigation into alleged criminal activity by members of Golden Dawn and a parallel internal affairs probe into suspected links between GD and the force yielded further arrests on Thursday, including five party members in Serres and Patra and a would-be political candidate for Golden Dawn in Athens..."

It's no wonder why GD were so cocky!

They had corrupted the Greek Police which allowed their vigilante gangs the ability to harass and assault vulnerable migrants. Basically they could do whatever they pleased because the police would turn a blind eye!

Well, not anymore! The Greek Police are now cleaning out the GD collaborators, and they simply will not be able to continue.

Perhaps this is why large amounts of money were found in the GD "party" headquarters. To bribe police so that they can continue with their illegal activities unhindered.

Yes and more news on the investigation on the involvement of "police", from greekreporter...

"... More than 300 police officers have testified while 40 have been temporarily detained as suspects in the ongoing probe that is expanding in the wake of the killing of a 34-year-0ld hip-hop artist for which a man connected to Golden Dawn was charged. That led the government to remove the heads of five police units in a purge of its hierarchy feared to be too close to the party.

Of the 40 officers questioned, nine have been arrested as part of an ongoing investigation including officers in Piraeus, close to the spot where Pavlos Fyssas was fatally stabbed last month, and in the run-down central Athens district of Aghios Panteleimonas where support for Golden Dawn is high because Greek residents there are upset there is a large immigrant population..."

Some more revelations from the investigation in to "golden dawn" by the Criminal Prosecutor, including in to the youth wing...

Reported in greekreporter...

"...The Deputy Prosecutor of the Supreme Court Charalambos Vourliotis is head of the investigation against Golden Dawn and in his nine-page report states that the criminal organization was formed in 1987.

According to Vourliotis the gang had infiltrated the ranks of the police and was involved in murders, attempted murders, arson and setting up extortion rings.

Vourliotis revealed details on the “Centaur” program, Golden Dawn’s “youth corps” that is headed by a 17-year-old supporter. Golden Dawn is known to recruit children as young as 14 years old and in order to form hit squads.

“In Golden Dawn we have a full military structure with at least 3,000 people ready for everything.

We have about 50 phalanxes for street fights and about as many six-man commando strike forces for organized attacks, under the guidance of three organization members,” said the man who revealed the far-right party’s secrets. ..."
