VP jumping for joy about pres.A mentioning BBF.didnt notice a couple of very important things:

1)evolution of roc from unitary to federation ie no virgin birth
2)no mention of political equality between states

Answering questions at the Press Conf after giving the speech, Pres A also said the following...

"... As regards now the Cyprus question, we are trying very hard to cooperate, to see how to open new avenues which might lead us to a successful end. As I have already mentioned during my speech at the General Assembly and now, in my introductory statement, I am decisive and I have a vision to see my country being reunited to the best interest of Greek and Turkish Cypriots, of all the inhabitants of the island. As we are always looking after the Greek Cypriots, at the same time, we are not ignoring the rights or the concerns of the Turkish Cypriots..."

In replies to questions re Occupied Ammochostos...

"... If it was upon me, I might say tomorrow, but we are in the process of negotiating. We are trying very hard to convey the message that it is something important, and it is not a proposal just for Varosha. It is a win-win proposal. It’s going to help all the Cypriots to benefit from what we are proposing..."

"...Famagusta port to be opened under the auspices of the European Union, Turkey to open airports and ports to the ships and airplanes bearing the flag of Cyprus, whilst Cyprus to lift any objections or veto with regards to the chapters which are under negotiations for the EU accession process of Turkey..."

In answer to a question on his radical approach and the response of Turkey to it...

"... To have a shock therapy, you need all the parties involved. Therefore, this is why we are trying to convince both our compatriots and Turkey that a brave movement, from all of us, will give what we are looking for: The new dynamic, the new impetus for inauguration of the new round of talks. Whilst, at the same time of course, what is needed is, as I have already said, is well-prepared negotiations before the negotiations, to prepare ourselves and to agree on certain items: A joint statement for example for the framework and the basis on which we shall negotiate. So, I am expecting from all that this very time we are all ready to get seriously involved in a dialogue for the peace and prosperity of the people of Cyprus, and not only. Our neighbours as well, Turkey as well..."

Thanks for clearing that up, boulio. I'm afraid some TCs are quite confused about the meaning of 'political equality'.

Lordo, the recognised leader of the Republic of Cyprus addressed the United Nations, and attended receptions and meetings with the US President and other world leaders.

The so-called leader of the 'trnc' attended a reception at the Turkish embassy and had a kebab from a street vendor.

This is what the world understands by 'political equality' of the two sides.
