Back to the Point of Cyprus!

How can we solve it? (keep it civilized)

Back to the Point of Cyprus!

The only solution I know the Greek Cypriots will ever accept is either one based on what they call the (impossible of course!) "Pure unification", or "Partition" but with a lot less territory for the “TRNC”. If it’s a Confederation of some sort you are after, then you will have to reduce your current territory to about 26%-28% from 37% – and President Anastiasiades (whom I know well) is the ONLY Greek Cypriot Politician that can get you this, as opposed to the others. Give him an offer and you will see it positively expand. BTW; The 26-28%% I have mentioned, is not actually my suggestion but one that was documented and penciled by the late Mr R.R.Denktas in 1992!

They will accept the repatriation of Turkish "Cypriots" back to what is today called Turkey.

This is in my opinion the best solution for both sides and something that should have happened before Cyprus became independent. This is what happened with all the other states which were liberated from the Ottomans but not for Cyprus. Why?

When Cyprus was offered by the Brits to the German king of Greece in exchange for his Greek kingdom declaring war on Bulgaria he declined. After that, the Brits decided the island was of value to them and voila, divide and conquer at its best.

yes, divide and conquer and all that malarki. So, the TC's should have been safe and sound in Turkey and the GC's safe and sound in Cyprus/Greece but instead the TC;s were used to rob the GC;s of their freedom of assembly and expression and then a third of their country.

I thought Britain offered to cede Cyprus to Greece if she entered the second world war on the side of the allies. Which Greece did.

Never trust foreigners, doc. Only Hellene nationalists are to be trusted.

Greece declined to enter the war when the offer was made, they joined later for free when the Italians attacked.

Greece entered the war because the leader at the time was a Hellene Nationalist (I. Metaxas), and not a Kraut, or someone of questionable ancestry (Venizelos).

OK, so back to the point of Cyprus and MrH's only two solutions option,

I still think the one I proposed is the best and will rectify many of the past's mistakes at the same time. Cyprus is an independent Greek province for Cypriots and the solution is to remove the occupiers and those who support it from the north of Cyprus.

This is the point.

"Independent greek province" is an oxymoron.

Which is it? Independent or greek province?
