According to a report by Greek Cypriot daily Fileleftheros, Turkish Airlines (THY) has hired a Greek Cypriot pilot for the first time and the daily interpreted this action as a step forward by Turkey in recognizing the Greek Cypriot administration as a legitimate state.
Six Greek Cypriot pilots who lost their jobs due to the financial crisis at Cyprus Airways had applied to work with Turkey's national air carrier, THY. After a long delay in response to the application, one of six applications has been successful and THY signed a five-year contract with the 60-year-old Greek Cypriot pilot.
