Cypriot pilot recruited by THY

How can we solve it? (keep it civilized)

Cypriot pilot recruited by THY

Postby bigOz » Thu Sep 19, 2013 2:18 pm

After 6 GC pilots applied for a job with the Turkish Airlines (Voted to be the best airline in Europe for the third successive year), one of them who got his licences in UK had been awarded employment. Apparently he managed a very high score at the pre-entry tests. :)

So the "carpet beggars" are not doing too bad after all are they - they actually have the cream of your professionals applying for work! Good luck to those who do get employed - but what I wander is, what about all those who have been mud slinging and calling demeaning names at Turkish anything? If they were half right - these guys must have been absolutely mad to even apply! AND how does it feel like working for a country that has apparently "invaded" your homeland?

I have no objections to GCs working in Turkey or TRNC and vice-versa, in fact I condone such working relationship between the peoples occupying the same part of the Mediterranean, which can only be good news for a peaceful co-existence. BUT I am dying to find out how this will be interpreted by the small "idiots club" in this ELAM dominated forum.

Just make sure you do not make remarks that will pass the boundaries of stupidity such as "Yippeee! Turkey needs Greek Cypriot pilots". THY is the airline that flies to most destinations in the World, keeps the youngest fleet in Europe of Airbuses and Boeing aircraft, employs thousands of pilots, and has been elected as NO.1 over the pas 3 consecutive years. The only airline making profits and expanding, while many EU airlines are shrinking or have either gone or going bust!

The employee in question is a holder of a British passport. Greek Cypriot descent doesn't mean anything, big0z is probably of Greek descent himself.

I did an ancestry test in UK - it points out to Italian ancestry of mixed blood dating back to Ottoman occupation of the area. However, historic facts point to you being more likely an Ottoman descent, Türkçe'yi nereden bu kadar iyi konuşuyon yavrum!

You are a maestro of a clown when it comes to changing the thread subject! Does British passport mean he is English you twat? So I hear you live in Spain - do you hold a Spanish or another European passport then? Does that mean you are not a Cypriot? Are you one of those Brits who retired to spain and has nothing better to do but waste time in forums? GO GET A LIFE YOU MISERABLE SAD SPECIMEN OF A CREATURE!

...ancestry test, i just had to look at the walls, and the trees around me to know where i came from. my guess is that i care for Cyprus so much because, i imagine, it is hard for people to imagine the same house (read: home) standing for 450 years, (and my auntie's older); and to be Cypriot, to know your neighbour just across the fence, 150 years (now almost 200 years), not unlike you, close to the land, and Turkish speaking.

...but what do i know, neither "Greek" or "Turkish", just grateful to have these roots.

wot? the only pilots willing to write the exam are "Greek", given this is Turkey we are talking about, this is no coincidence.

So basically, you are the descendant of a poor Venetian teenage girl, whose forceful rape by a Lala Mustafa Paşa low-ranked thuggie was enshrined by the all-glorious sharia law.

I never had a DNA or ancestry test, I don't need such things.

So I hear you live in Spain - do you hold a Spanish or another European passport then? Does that mean you are not a Cypriot?

Turkish Airlines hires a Greek Cypriot for first time

19 September 2013 /TODAYSZAMAN.COM, İSTANBUL
According to a report by Greek Cypriot daily Fileleftheros, Turkish Airlines (THY) has hired a Greek Cypriot pilot for the first time and the daily interpreted this action as a step forward by Turkey in recognizing the Greek Cypriot administration as a legitimate state.

Oops! :D

I guess Turkey is doing it's best to get a good report card from the EU next month!

It's not surprising THY manages to make some profit due to very low wages it gives to it's cabin crew and the ground personnel and charges similar rate to ticket prices as does the rest of European airlines.
