Ex-Congressman Does PA for Occupied Cyprus

How can we solve it? (keep it civilized)

Ex-Congressman Does PA for Occupied Cyprus

More American treachery, but what do you expect from bent politicians:

Former Brooklyn/Staten Island Congressman Mike McMahon is handling public affairs/government relations duties for the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, the occupied section of Cyprus.

The Democrat is working as lead on a $200K, one-year contract won by Herrick Feinstein in New York.

Turkey invaded the northern part of the Republic of Cyprus in 1974 following a Greek Cypriot-led coup aimed to make the island part of Greece, Turkey’s historic archrival.

Another round of United Nations negotiations geared to the reunification of Cyprus resumes in October.

According to HF's contract, Team McMahon is to arrange Congressional visits to the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, a state recognized only by Turkey, and promote a positive image for it in the media.

Tea Party-backed Republican Michael Grimm defeated McMahon, a former member of the House Foreign Affairs committee, in 2010.

McMahon also handled the development, and construction of Turkey’s expanded consulate in New York, across from the United Nations’ General Assembly building.

The US Congress has strict rules against overt lobbying by foreign interests.

Turkey gets around them by setting up so-called USA-Turkey friendship groups which employ a number of lobbying firms in Washington with a multimillion budget.

Ladies and gentlemen, LET THE GAMES BEGIN:

the people who replied to me are entirely ignorant.

philip hannan (Sep. 17, 2013):
Drcyprus....... I take it that you are in fact a deluded greek cypriot. Read the history and you will find that greece instigated all that happened in 74 and for years before that....... turkey put an end to the genocide. ...... how ignorant you are!!!!

Ronald N. Levy (Sep. 17, 2013):
Calling the Turkish part of Cyprus "occupied" Cyprus is like calling the U.S., Canada and Mexico
"occupied" since England used to be in charge of America and Canada, and Spain controlled Mexico.

Married people have a right to get divorced, corporations have a right to split up, executives and teams in PR firms, law firms and accounting firms have a right to go elsewhere, you can see from our Declaration of Independence that countries certainly have a right to independence, and the people of Cyprus have a right to feel alliance with Greece if in the south and alliance with Turkey if in the north.

There are wars, thank God wars are settled, and when the countries involved in a war agree on peace terms, it's not a crazy idea to believe that the countries that made peace are better able than others to judge where boundaries should be and what's fair .

Either side in an international disagreement has a right to go to the U.N, the International Court of Justice and elsewhere, so if neither Greece nor southern Cyprus is going to court, perhaps we should
recognize that the people of Cyprus, Greece and Turkey may know better than other people what's fair and where boundaries should be.

Anonymous (Sep. 17, 2013):
Great news. It is about time that other countries started to recognise that North Cyprus does in fact exist.

drCyprus (Sep. 17, 2013):
"Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus"

You must mean the part of the Republic of Cyprus illegally occupied by Turkey.
