In football it has attracted some dodgy business men into the running of the Clubs, some of whom I would call the dregs of society.....

True. And hooliganism, in some countries and some clubs, is sustained, supported and protected by them. The hooligans are their personal praetorians.

And look at political links, too, and if many politicians aren't the dregs of society with their corrupt relationships with business who is...
