What is YOUR problem?

How can we solve it? (keep it civilized)

What is YOUR problem?

Postby Maria28 » Fri Nov 18, 2005 2:49 pm

Ok, so we have the Cyprus problem. It is a problem of the whole Cyprus but it should affect everybody in a different way. Some people might not feel affected at all. How does it affect YOU in your every day life?

How do you expect the solution to solve YOUR problem?

Since I am here why not make some politics posts, ah? :)

Good thinking ,Maria
Nothing will be achieved if we only talk about the price of rice in China :D

Cypro does not affect my daily life,as I live in exile in Australia. But it has affected my life on this planet dramatically,as you can imagine.
My village in the South has largely disappeared from the map,so no solution will make any change in solving my personal problem.
I can only hope to live long enough to see a truly democratic Cypriot nation emerge from the rubble of racism and nationalism and mindless bigotism that has brought disgrace on our beautiful homeland.

Hello Birkibrisli!
I am sorry about your village. How did it happen? How can a whole village disappear?

Why are you so pessimistic about it though? The land is still there for sure so maybe you could rebuild it.

I agree with what you said about racism and nationalism.

Hi,Maria

How can a whole village disappear?good question really.
It was one of the remote mountain villages in Paphos. No GCs wanted to inhabit it after 1974,I presume. So originally it was demolished by neglect.
It wouldn't take long for fields or orchards to die without care and constant watering.I am assuming that the GCs from the area came and helped themelves to whatever they found useful. The wallnut and almond trees were probably cut down for their timber, but not sure how the olives or carobs or fig trees died, to be honest.I also can't figure out how the walls of houses disappeared. They were stone and mudbrick mostly,so they must've been removed for some reason.

As to rebuilding...I think too many years have passed and people have built alternative lives often overseas. Not many of us would want to begin from scratch.Personally I am too heartbroken to even visit it.But I will try to overcome my emotional block and come to see it soon,if only to put a closure to the whole tragedy.Financial compensation might come with a solution, but nothing can replace your memories and your sense of emotional loss and displacement.

u know i decided not pay any attention to you anymore, and just let you advertise your patriotism. u r just offending people, putting all kinds of racist pictures, and playing clever by correcting mistakes of others as if we r a bunch of natives in a spelling competition.

birkibrisli is also a refuggee in case you cannot digest that. and his reply to your unacceptablle comment is -knowing your attitude- sth that you wouldnt be able to do even in your wildest dreams, if someone told you: there are no gc refuggees, its just your gc imagination that they exist.

in a way, thank god it was birkrisli and not any other tc bc it would just turn to another name-calling competition.

dont even bother answering, i ll just ignore you
