High Seas

The high seas are comprised of all parts of the sea that are not included in the exclusive economic zone, in the territorial sea or in the internal waters of a State, or in the archipelagic waters of an archipelagic State.

Quite right!

But, no country has sovereign right over their EEZ!

You can effectively have Turkish Naval Ships 12nms south of Paphos and there is nothing Cyprus can do about it.

the tur*ish warships can only be there if on an innocent passage that is to say going from place A to place B which does not include harassment of other vessels in the area who may by licence of the government of the ROC be looking for oil or gas... unfortunately we have nothing to deal with Tur*ish ships even if not on innocent passage but being naughty like the Piri Reis....

Is the US Armada within the Cyprus, Egyptian and Israeli EEZ an "innocent passage"? Maybe for us, but certainly not for Syria!

I don't think there is much you could do about it. other countries usually just shadow "enemy" naval units. Attacking them would be deemed a severe act of war.

Yet another example of a badly presented sentence. There’s like 80% emotion and 20% content here… most taxing for one's brain!

Yes, thank boys... bottom line is that Turkey, if it acknowledges UNCLOS, can put a pipe-line through to Egypt through several EEZs including that of CY without permissions.

Turkey can also lay a pipeline to transport water without the leave of CY, partly through the CY EEZ, to its Illegal Regime... but it has to stop when it reaches CY Territorial Waters, 12nm short of CY, from whence they can chuck it over in buckets.

On the matter of High Seas (as per the UNCLOS definition) ... the easy way to think of things is that there are no High Seas in the Med... every spot of the Med falls into either Territorial Waters or EEZs ... except in places like the Aegean, for obvious reasons.

WTF...!!!

It wasn't meant to be a sentence... it's put across as a work of linguistic art... an image with words.

Tricky one... but don't forget the USA hasn't ratified UNCLOS.
