The point is that they are not making any discerning choice at all...the chances are that they would still choose that Holiday even if they knew Cyprus was an independent Republic, but they are unfortunately ignorant of History, Geography, and regional politics.

Not so ignorant if history and regional politics ...

The association is perfectly understandable; only the geography remains shaky.
