Cap I'm going to be philosophical. The guys argument is not something I necessarily disagree with since it is saying that IQ is dependent on conditions: poverty, freedom, nutrition etc. Indeed if you were to make IQ the basis for defining "race" then it would support my argument that East Europeans are not "White". But here is the real point. All classifications are illusions. We create them to bring order to the world. But they can be discarded. My whole thesis is that the "racial" classifications were invented by the West European imperialists and we don't need them. They are alien to Cypriots and actually cause us more harm than good. We should discard them completely and classify the world in a way that helps us. This is possible. To give you an example, it is possible to construct a mathematical system in which 1 + 1 = 3. You can do mathematics that way. The problem is that we are so entrenched in the idea that 1 + 1 = 2, and this is the philosophical point, if we fully believed that 1 + 1 = 3, not just as a mathematical game, but as reality, would reality follow suit? Would taking 1 cow and another cow result in three cows? With all my experience of schizophrenia (really just a spiritual opening that happened too fast) I honestly believe this is so. All laws are created. Philosophically we know them to be an act of belief. One has to have axioms which come from nowhere. We say they come from the world but the world itself is an illusion. Even logic is a set of assumptions. Indeed some people talk about ethno-mathematics and the hegemony of Western mathematics as something that should be challenged. Personally, maybe because I am Greek, I like Western mathematics. But they are right that it could be challenged. We could live in a world where 1 + 1 = 3, but I am not interested in challenging for that. What I am interested in challenging is the classification of "race" that the imperialists developed. I am not so sure about the classification of IQ. Is it a useful classification? "Race" is clearly to my mind a harmful classification. But IQ maybe useful. If it is linked to poverty, freedom and nutrition then it is a useful measure, for me, of how developed we are. If it is linked to skin colour then it is useless.
