I agree. The tripartite political-military-energy axis which is under way would be the best possible thing to come (if materialised to the end) for the three countries involved. Even the "big boys" support it. About time Turkey's "important role" is counterbalanced (and even substituted) by something more secure and trustworthy.

Nobody can ever accuse me of not being concerned about Cyprus and the future of our generations to come.
It does not mean that I have to accept the excessive corruption and greed that has caused our recent economic disaster..

As for Greece, well you know my views on the very nation that caused Cyprus's biggest catastrophe in modern times as well as being a major contributor to our current financial disaster.

It is a lot of playground nonsense to call them our "friends". Sure, they were never our enemies. We've lived side-by-side with the people for thousands of years. Certainly Cyprus have done them a lot of favours in the past.

The most we can say is that we have a good working relationship with the Israelis. It's business ....not playtime, Milty mou!

Israel is our very best ally and friend because when the shit hits the fan and Turkey threatens any Cypriot or Israeli Oil and Gas assets in the Med, they will hit back and they have US support.

The Turks will never be so stupid. Israel does not fear Turkey one little bit. Hopefully something happens because Turkey needs to be put in its place. Israel will not suffer any fools like the EU and US do!!

Miltiadis, you are a nice bloke.

What I recall is stupid anti Jewish rhetoric from the likes of Yialoser and Kurupetos. In fact, those bogans continue with their despicable behaviour to this day, which I find confronting because their behaviour is something I don't want associated with Cyprus.

I do not recall any other animosity or denigration towards Jews or the State of Israel. What you are referring to is disgust against gross violations against Human Rights, the displacement of Palestinians from their homes and the killing of women and children. Everyone has a right to a fair go, including the Palestinians. Israel has done some disgusting things and it should be held accountable for its crimes. That is one issue. Cyprus on the other hand can only do what serves its national interests just like other countries like Israel do.

Many millions of people around the world will have animosity towards these crimes, including the majority of people in the US.

Those that denigrate based on race or religion are nothing but idiotic imbeciles. Those that support Human Rights are not to be confused with these idiots.

There are many things Israel could do in order to give Palestinians a fair go and better living conditions. Over time Israel could incorporate them and integrate them in a humane fashion rather than persecute them. That, would eventually defeat terrorism because they just won't exist if most people have food on the table, are able to earn their keep and have shelter over their heads.

One more thing.

Jews have endured much over centuries of persecution, dating back to biblical times and right up to the 20th century. They are a tough a resilient people with good work ethic, and fairly good morals.

They are exceptionally successful when allowed to thrive. Israel itself is a wealthy and thriving country and for their size, they have contributed a great deal.

All I know is that Cyprus can gain and learn a great deal from this dynamo. Due to their proximity, they are an important country for us.

Israel has ferociously and persistently defended its right to exist. In doing so they committed acts that are reprehensible. In my opinion these inhumane acts were not premeditated but the results of waging war against those that strive for the destruction of the state of Israel.

I must add, as selfish as it may sound, that for the benefit of Cyprus I would make friends with the devil.

Yes well, Israel is far from being a demonic state. The way it was formed in the Holy Land in 1948 opened a big can of worms. The whole situation is very messed up and no one really knows what the solution is.

There are many worse countries than Israel.

The best situation I forsee is for the Palestinians to be incorportated as equal citizens of Israel, with adequate living space, free movement, access to education, jobs, careers, and the right to own property anywhere and the freedom to worship their faith. In the end, Israel needs to decide whether it should endure the violence, and fear of terrorism or to think outside the box and do something constructive for the benefit of Palestinians and other Israelis. This will either go on forever, but Israel can end it if it wants to.
