Really ? I know there are new laws regarding serving alcohol within a certain distance to a mosque - but hadn't heard bards had changed their closing times. Shame if it's tru.

Very fickle love-affair with Istanbul if it is based on whether their bars shut at 10pm or not.

I didn't say I wouldn't go - simply that iwas surprised the law had been changed. Lived in lots of different places so don't think Istanbul would be a problem.

Yes, but this is Turkey we are talking about!! Not like other places. If you are a Christian, beware, they are generally not welcome in Constantinople, just ask the orthodox community and others.
If you have a death wish, go ahead, but best don't take your kids.

I've lived in Cyprus and Turkey and I have to say that Turkey is a much better place to live overall.
To get the simplest thing done here involves wading through a sea of slack-jawed, clueless morons. It's very backwards, to be honest.
