First Timers

Postby lmgros » Tue Nov 15, 2005 4:19 pm

Hi! We are visiting Cyprus for the first time and staying in Paphos. Since we booked I have read three tourist books and read nearly all the subjects on the forum. One question :?: Can you hire pushbikes :?: we don't fancy driving and walking can take so long, with so much to see.
Will be arriving 13th Dec, only four weeks to go. Thanks Lin and Mart :D

Hi Lin and Mart

yes, you can hire pushbikes (quant english phrase that!), scooters, motorbikes, quadbikes, horses - and even cars! Riding a bike here requires the bravery of taking a barrel down Niagra Falls - you will see what i mean when you are here ;-)

December falls within our rainy season, so you will need a mac and brolly (quant English Phrase number 2) and it can be cool; we do not insulate our homes properly here! But even in December you can stroll round in your shirtsleeves, on many occasions.

**lol** nicely said Lana!

Nothing to add to your advise though. Apart from maybe that the island is to big and has to much to offer as that a bicycle would suffice. :-)

Hi City

Nice to see you again; where have you been, on the 'other' site?

english saying

Postby lmgros » Thu Nov 17, 2005 5:20 pm

Thanks,
We are Welsh really, but to close to the boarder to excape all english sayings. The weather will be better there than here, as we had our first frost last night. As we don't know our hotel yet we are not sure how far we will be from the harbour and the Tomb of the Kings, if it is going to rain a bit, bikes are faster. But as it is our 25th wedding annivarsary we might not see to much of the sights  also old legs for to much walking

Paphos

Postby Liakada » Wed Nov 23, 2005 10:03 pm

Imgros

Paphos is relatively flat and small.

The temperature will be fine for cycling

I'm not sure if you would be safer driving though.

Cypriot drivers tend to use the right hand for smoking and left for answering their mobiles!!!

Take a safety helmet & insurance!!!!

I'm sure you will have a great cycling holiday

:D
