They chose to deliver the knock out punch more efficiently and more humanely than the former option.

You, having served in the military should understand these concepts of leadership and the greater good and be able to make dificult decisions.

After 6 years of fighting the Japs, Australia and America had enough and were looking for a speedy end.

That’s the beauty of the Geneva Conventions Paphitis! You can no longer go for the easy way out of mass murdering civilians who are irrelevant to a fight and you MUST confront the enemy or surrender your self!

Which means that the tenacity of the Japanese military in WWII might have won them the war had it been fought fair and square!

Perhaps the Geneva Convention applies to the Japs more so than America!

Furthermore, there was no Geneva Convention on the Kokoda Track and in concentration camps holding American, Australian and British POWs.

Japanese POWs were held in Australia in 5 star luxury and had more to eat than Australian civilians did, so the US and Australia were upholding Geneva conventions before their inception, unlike Japan.
