Ok..if you weren't from the UK or any other British colony I would of advised you to look right when crossing a road/street.

thanks...i made the mistake, while in Cyprus two months ago, of looking left and heard a screeching stop a few feet from me...the driver stuck his head out of his window asking me if i had a death wish, i said no, and then asked him why he was driving on the wrong side of the road....but i was in Cyprus and live in the USA

Don't sweat it Oceans.
The Greeks drive on the wrong side of the road as well.

Always thought it was optional which side to drive on in CY... so maybe driving down the middle would be sensible.

I think you're confusing them with the Greek wannabe's fresh off the Athens Universities. Brainwashed for life and confused till eternity.

Observe the highways.
The system is left and Cypriot.

125 days to go!! Great thread! In Paralimni it can look a bit weird - cars coming from everywhere. But happy to sit at Phenomenon watching it all happen

Further suggestions on the matter of driving...

Red Stop traffic lights are advisory... so at quiet times the driver may proceed at their discretion.

Parking... leave the nice and tidy GB parking behind. Such things as double parking, parking on zebras, parking on pavements, across driveways, taking up two bays at the supermarket etc etc are acceptable. The aim ... to be no more than 2 metres from the front door of the shop.

Indicators... aren't generally used cos they waste electricity.

Thanks Bill - Actually we don't drive - another reason why we chose Paralimni - good public transport links. Mrs. Baggieboy wants to learn but I won't hold my breath! I've seen that red light thing you refer to though!
