Two more Brits held

23 July 2013
LARNACA - Two British tourists suspected of being involved in a spate of burglaries in Ayia Napa were arrested at Larnaca airport on Sunday evening by airport police.
Four apartments in a hotel complex in Ayia Napa were broken into on July 19 and 20, from which cash, jewellery and electronic goods worth €3,350 were stolen.
The names of the two suspects, aged 17 and 18, were added to the airport stop list after the Famagusta District Court issued warrants for their arrest.
They appeared before the court yesterday and were ordered held for four days.
Three British tourists, 17, 18 and 22, who are believed to be friends with the other two, have also been placed in police custody for six days after part of the stolen items were recovered in their apartments in the same complex.

and I sincerely hope that, after a trial, if they are found guilty, they get to spend a long time as a guest of the Cyprus Government in Nicosia, in the rather less pleasant conditions of the central Prison than a holiday let in Agia Napa. I will quite happily call them scum of the earth and a disgrace to Britain for any crimes they may be found guilty of.

If they are convicted, I would rather have them deported back to the UK where they can serve their sentence.

Wasting tax money on these foreigners just can't be justified when the money could be better spent on more important things during these difficult times!

Very true, but sending them back to a hotel in the UK with satellite TV, internet, and mobile phones, is not much of a deterrent!

Six months of being made to "squeal like a pig" in the Nicosia Central Prison might put them off doing it again!

Well, naturally STUD. Any reasonable person would want that. The only interesting aspect of this is to know their race. 'British' has become a wide definition nowadays.

Where are their parents? Why are 17 year olds allowed into another country without their parents?

These kids need to be deported back to their parents fast!

IMO, it's a cultural problem.

Perhaps they're trying to recover money owed to the SLC in the UK.. These are youngsters without their parents in the UK too..

Students from Cyprus borrowed the most from the SLC, but £15m of their £24m debt is not being repaid. Graduates from France, Germany and Poland ran up tuition-fee debts of more than £10m, but the SLC figures reveal that it is owed huge sums by former students from some of the most recession-hit countries in the EU, including Ireland and Greece!

What a pathetic attempt to excuse a crime by these young Brits. You should know better than to try and compare a criminal activity to a non payment of a loan. What about the thousands of Brits who are not paying their loans in Cyprus, who rent property and do runners leaving thousands unpaid. We can go on and on if you like.

Shameful, just shameful.
