I concur, but I'm biased as its my youngests first name*

Although my eldest said today that the Royal baby should be named 'Geoff'.....no idea why, it was his random thought of the day

*Named after Oliver Reed, as we couldn't think of the Greek alternative.

Oh, well, there was a King Geoffrey who was responsible for founding the Plantagenet dynasty. But that was more 'British' (i.e. French) than the present royals who are German. :D So, probably not!

Geoffrey Plantagenet was not a king. He was count of Anjou, and later Duke of Normandy. Through his marriage his son became King of England.

Count, Duke yadayadayada for France - he founded the Plantagenets and that's significant for English-British historical lineages. Don't think it's at all likely they'll name the Prince after this line.

Constantine is a good bet as there was a King Constantine of Scotland. :D

Do you mean the Byzantine Emperor Constantine or the King Constantine of the Kingdom of Alba? :?

I notice there were a few Alexanders in Alba's history ...

So the ever popular Alexander is a great possibility. :)

(Wish they'd hurry up and decide.)

Emperor Constanine, emperor of the Roman Empire, who later took the city of Byzantium as his seat, and had it renamed New Rome. The name Constantinople may be an unofficial term later officialy adopted but the phrase Byzantine Empire is definitely a later label, first reported after the fall of Constantinople in 1453 and which in any event probably only properly applies to the rump of the empire after the final Split into East and West which occurred in about 395 AD, ie 60 years after Constantine, who ruled the whole empire, and the collapse of the western empire, dated to about 476 or 480 ad through to the formation of the Ostrogothic Kingdom in 490 ad when the king of Italy threw off any allegiance to the Eastern Emperor, which allegience had until then formed the basis for legitimacy of western rulers.

I was talking about King Constantine of the Kingdom of Alba - which is of a little more relevance to the present-day British monarchy.

Anyway - it's not Constantine - it's two other very Greek names ....

George Alexander. :D

Congratulations.
