get over it the sooner you do the sooner we shall have peace.

I don't bloody think so.

You can't just steal land from a sovereign country and set up this type of precedence against International Law.

We will never forget and the current status quo is temporary. We have seen many like you off over many centuries of our history.

We have security issues which must be respected, hence we will can only accept alternatives like NATO, only because we as GCs believe that TCs like BigOz and Mr-from-NG also have as much right to feel secure in their country as Cypriots as much as I do as an equal Cypriot.

The GCs and TCs have a big responsibility and should do this for the overall good and well being of all future generations.

It has to be a combined effort without Greece and Turkey.

However, BigOz and MR-from-NG have touched upon a very critical matter. There has been bloodshed in the past, so the matter of security can't be ignored. Both communities have a security issue and the TCs have to respect this as well.

Thank you Paphitis.

That is what I've been trying to point out: that Cyprus needs to "detach" itself as you mentioned. In my opinion, the Turkish Cypriots have the right and the power to separate themselves from Turkey more than anyone else.... Then the issue off these so called high level talks that can only be done at specific places with special envoys that still fail... Of-course they will fail. Because those talks express the interests of other countries and institutions, and pay very little attention to the needs of the CYPRIOT community. As pointed out by Paphitis, "It has to be a combined effort without Greece and Turkey",there we have it: The Cyprus Solution. That IS the ONLY solution to the Cyprus Problem.

There was no such thing as “defenseless Turkish Cypriots”. The Kokkina mini port kept supplies coming from Turkey non stop. That's why it was defended so much including TAF strikes.

Yes indeed... not to mention gun-running elsewhere...

In one incident some of you will recall, Rough D was picked up on the beach at Vokolida with a shipment of guns for the TMT Terror Campaign.

Yes, we have entire threads covering these incidents including a picture of a ship smuggling weapons caught by the British close to Kokkina.

We have that too... it was 11,000 to be exact but we never claimed to be “defenseless”. (<-- 1964)

so you think bringing in a few weapons in a fishing boat is equivelant to offloading them off ships with cranes and 11000 men make it about equal so both sides were not defenceless.

may i suggest you pop into the nearest braincell shop and replace you brain cell but this time buy more than one and avoid using bullshit cells.

For the first few years of its existence, the Republic was defenceless at a time when Turkey was supplying the TMT Terrorists with arms... preparing to cause the trouble that Rough had had in mind for years.

... so go and tell your clap-trap to the other mushrooms.

...my point is that we do not need the Government of Cyprus defending "Greeks". like "Turks", they seek to defend themselves (and in doing that exclude others). Greeks can defend themselves if they were a Constituency (and "Greeks" could find expression in defining "Greekness"). equality in this respect provides security. moreso, they gain in their power, with other Constituencies united in representing an electorate which seeks some effort from the Federal Government toward their affairs (Financially/Monetarily, by Acts).

if Cyprus was free of its duty to identify the needs of "Greeks", because this population has self-representation itself, we would be Bicommunal. the Federal Government would be Free, representing Citizens, as Individuals bettering and defending Individual Rights. we will never erase "Turkishness", or "Greekness" from the soil here, we would be wise to demonstrate a willingness to sustain, what is a valuable Heritance, an ethnography that is diverse.

@Lordo, your post (above); smarm.
