As a help to the over-whelming masses of new members recently on CF...
There are certain conventions on CF. They are contained in the Unofficial CF Rule Book.
Here is Section 1, sub-section (i)...
The Cease-Fire Line will be referred to as the Cease-Fire Line or the Barricades.
Use of the word "border" is banned.
Use of the phrase "check-point" is banned. Members may use the word "crossing".
In the context of "crossings", the word "visa" is banned. The phrase "complimentary bum wipe" is allowed.
Members will only refer to the Occupied Areas as the Occupied Areas, Katehomena, the Wrong Side of the Cease-Fire Line or by use of suitably derogatory terms, such as the Sewer of "trnc" where appropriate.
The Free Areas of the Republic may also be referred to as the Free Areas.
All towns and villages in the Occupied Areas will be pre-fixed Occupied (capitalised) e.g. Occupied Kyrenia.
Where towns or Districts are only partly Occupied, use will be made of appropriate qualification e.g. the Occupied Part of Nicosia.
No reference will be made to "south" or "north" .
Ex-pat "buyers" of stolen properties in the Occupied Areas are to be referred to as CarpetBaggers, CarpetSquatters, CarpetBuggerers, CarpetShaggers or similar.
Paphos must never be spelled Pafos.
Any former inhabitant of the Occupied Village of Yialousa must always be referred to as Yialoser.
It is allowable to refer to any current inhabitant of the village of Tseri in the Free Areas as Unfortunate.
