How bloody convenient for them to do so.

Cynical me says 'on purpose'. Silk route festival had a stop put to it, at Golden Beach Karpas.... They can't have 80k plus people treading all over turtles at breeding season. Also all the widening of the roads to accompany the festival got stopped too, and goodnes knows what 'other' works. Plenty of wildlife habitat spoilt at that.....so now its going to be spoilt some more
Southern Cyprus has how many blue flag beaches? May trickle down to those too

Incompetent a*holes!

Have to agree with Flying Horse. Very timely (tourist season) "accidental" discarding of petroleum, the incompetent bo*sterds!

Spills happen, even in the Roc. Over the years there have been several at Vassilikon/Governors' Beach and in at least one case from an RoC owned and operated ship to boot. Fortunately probably not as big as this one. With new terminal going in the risk will be more, plus the risk of a Buncefield/Bayamon type event which could rival Mari.

I don’t see anything sinister in this. Just incompetence.

Added to idiocy by refusing initially the help of the Republic.

Let’s hope they can keep the damage confined to the occupied areas.
