My late father in laws brother was shot in front of his family, they say by his own people.
We don't forget.
Today is the 10th anniversary of my late father in laws passing. He fought for his country in the troubles, but passed away before they opened the crossing in 2003. I don't think he ever went back to his true home land. Sad really. Very sad.
Bickering pales into significance sometimes.
Why was he shot ?
I'm not precisely sure. So forgive me if, anything I say may sound incorrect.
I 'think' he was serving in the army at the time(which is correct), and he wouldn't join the rebels(EOKA?? the bit I'm unsure of).
As there is no family to directly ask, my hubby has only his memory of what his father told him when he was young. We were at the Orthodox church a couple of months ago, and one of the elders was an old family friend. When asked about family he immediately said, we must never forget your Uncle Giorgos.
Of course, this is one of those mysteries tied in with trying to find our fathers family.
