So many killings of black men in my lifetime. The physical shock is astounding.

Absolutely, and guess who's killing them?

if zimmerman's case was not self defense then there is no such thing as self defense.

How can you plead "self-defense" if you choose to stalk someone whilst you are carrying a gun and then shoot them, dead?

How on earth is that "self-defense"?

If Barry Obama had kept his mouth shut this case would have been as relevant as the 1000's of other gun killings that occur in America every year.

Instead we have a media trying to pander to the civil rights/white angst brigade by attempting to beatify trayvon and paint Zimmerman as a monster ..... Not because its the truth, rather, because it suits them and keeps the news cycle rolling

Alice didn't watch the trial, but that doesn't mean she didn't hear/read any of the evidence. Probably no one here watched the trial either, but some have decided it was justified for gun-carrying Zimmerman to shoot-to-kill an unarmed teenager.

As the poem says ... Prejudice!

Since the teenager jumped on Zimmerman and had him on the ground.. What if the teen grabbed the gun and shot Zimmerman ? Why isn't that a consideration?...

He shouldn't have engaged with an unarmed person whilst he himself was carrying a gun. There is a responsibility whilst carrying a gun and Zimmerman was irresponsible - and now a teenager is dead whilst a gun-carrying stalker is on the loose!

Clearly guns make you feel unstoppable and "brave".

i watched parts of the trial when it was live
i'd love to see how you would react when a teenager who was hitting your head on the ground and beating you up and you only had a gun to defend yourself.

I have seen pictures of the head wounds he received and a bloodied nose. Also, according to Zimmerman's testimony, which was cross examined by the State Prosecution, he was attacked and there was a subsequent struggle for the firearm. No one will ever know for sure. The jury can only decide on what evidence is available.

The jury decided it was 'self defence'.

It is also important to note that early on, the police did not charge Zimmerman but after a review, Prosecuters issued the warrant for second degree murder. It appears, the DPP wanted to prosecute Zimmerman.

He had the right to engage the teen, he was working there(Zimmerman), if the teen took it upon himself to attack a security guard then there are consequences.. Everybody knows security guards have guns...Zimmerman actually felt more threatened since he himself had a gun..again what if the teen took zimmermans gun and used it on him?

Easy! Don't carry guns!

(Unless you take responsibility when you shoot someone who does NOT have one. )

he did not "stalk" trayvon.
this is the effect of the bias of the media.
as of 2009 (not sure) zimmerman has the right to bear arms.
he was observing trayvon because he was concerned of the increase of burglaries in his neighborhood. zimmerman did nothing illegal and he did not violate any law. on the other hand, by the moment trayvon attempted to murder zimmerman with brutally beating him up, he did break a law.

where did you get your information about this case?

It's like you don't see your reflection in the dark mirror of hypocrisy

How you of anyone can sling the barbed arrow of prejudice is just laughable

Take a good look at yourself woman...... Maybe you'll catch a glimpse of a small shrunken, blackened, tumour like growth ...... That's your credibility and it died several dubious names ago

That's a really pathetic assessment but it says a lot for how you condemn a poor teenager, killed by a gun whilst unarmed, simply for being black!
