A joint statement by trade unions accusing Turkey of wiping out the Turkish Cypriots:

Turkish Cypriot daily Havadis (10.07.13), reports that Turkish Cypriot Primary Teachers' Union (KTOS), Turkish Cypriot Primary Teachers' Union (KTOEOS), "Turkish Cypriot State Workers' Union" (Cag-Sen), Turkish Cypriot Physicians' Union (Tip-Is) and the "Academic personnel of East Mediterranean University's Union" (Dau-Sen), in a joint announcement issued yesterday, said that "the north part of Cyprus, which is considered an EU territory, is under the administration of Turkey", adding that this is contrary to the founding treaties of the Republic of Cyprus as well as to the Geneva Treaty.

In the joint statement, it is said that the "self-styled governments of the breakaway regime administrate the Turkish Cypriots with the decisions and the interferences of Ankara governments", adding that there is a perception in the occupied area of the Republic of Cyprus, which defends the integration and the assimilation and this perception continues to wipe out the Turkish Cypriots, to take their identity and personality and keep them as hostages for bargaining.

According to the joint statement, the Turkish Cypriots have been subjected for 30 years now to the same practices that the ruling government of the Justice and Development Party (AKP) and Turkey's Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan have implemented to the Gezi Park demonstrations.

...in the political battles to come, Unions will want to win back the power that was wrested from them of late. it is hopeful, if as a force for working people, they stand united, rather than as spheres which are unique in their exclusivity because they are "Greek" or "Turkish"; it may be, to advance their cause, that they will stand under a Cypriot Flag, differentiating themselves from the Parties which stand under other flags.

An accurate assesment of the state of the north. And an indictment of those apologists who come on to this forum and claim to speak on behalf of Turkish Cypriots while defending Turkish interests in the north. They should hang their heads in shame. Cowards and collaborators who have betrayed their own community and its legacy.

Did you think that Turkey could invade the island and declare an illegal 'state' without any consequences? Are you insane? There are UN resolutions which Turkey has refused to comply with. As a result there are international embargoes imposed on the illegal 'state' in the north.

If you have a problem with the embargoes suffocating the north you need to pressure and complain to Turkey, not the legal Cyprus government, you idiot! Read the above statement by your fellow TCs who live under the Turkish yoke and tell us who they think is responsible for conditions in the occupied areas...

Turkey, along with your incompetent "terrorist" leaders should not be trying to establish a separate state in the north of Cyprus. If you are stupid enough to buy property/move there and support Turkeys illegal occupation then the international embargoes become your problem.

The TC's leaving the occupied areas are not the RoC's problem and I hope everyone ends up leaving there due to the embargoes, so Turkey's military can follow.

This will be poetic justice and end the CY problem. Of course, legitimate TC's will always be able to go back if they want to live in a unitary state. In a democratic Republic of Cyprus.
