Are real ashes used or is that just a name ?
Paphitis, sorry mate I know you like the game, or Test its what they call it I believe, Im just having a little fun
The English are putting up a fight in their second innings after Australia declared.
They have 4 wickets remaining for day 5 and the Test is actually quite thrilling as there is no love lost between Australia and England. There were a few words exchanged once again between Johnson and Broad with a lot of theatrics. Pieterson and Anderson were giving the Aussies some stick but now the English are copping a double dose and they are struggling against Johnson's blistering fast bowling. You can see the fear in the eyes of the English Batsmen.
The Ashes are real. When Australia beat the English Team in 1882 in England, someone at the MCC cremated a pair of bails and placed them in an urn signifying the "Death of English Cricket". The 2 countries have been playing each other for these very "ashes" ever since. Over the years there has been a lot of drama and contraversy such as Bodyline in 1932/1933. The current Series is quite fierce and there is a lot of ill feeling between the Australian and English Teams because of England's arrogance and sledging over the last 3 or so Ashes Series where Australia was defeated. Much media attention and snobbery.
The English Coach did call for a truce and some "peace talks" but this was rejected by Australia. They stated that they will not change their game plan since they have the English rattled. They also told the English that they endured this over the last 3 Series and that it is part of the game - basically they told the Poms to harden up!
As I said! It's WAR on the cricket field and a few English Players nearly got the heads knocked of by Johnson!
