Want to modify my car (engine swap)

Postby brainii » Fri Jun 28, 2013 12:51 pm

I have a 2007 Honda Accord (previous generation) with a 2.0 petrol engine.
I would like to boost it significantly, I read a few things and it seems the best way (and only legal) way is to do an engine swap with a bigger engine.

1) Where should I go to find the engine in Cyprus? (I saw 2.4 Honda engines online for around 2000 Euro on Ebay, without postage).
2) What's the exact procedure to do this (legal wise). I know it have to apply for it in the road department
3) How much will labor cost???
4) Is there something else I can do (like boost the current engine) while still legal and not super expensive?

Any help is appreciated.
Thanks

Get it the electronic module that govern engine performance re-mapped to boost bhp, you can typically get 10-20% more mid and top-end power ... there is a chap in CY that does it. If you're interested will try and find a contact.

Try these two.

Don't know them... so make your own judgement on their suitability. Can tell you that they are both franchisees of a GB re-mapping outfit. The files for your car will be programmed in GB and sent to them for input through a laptop through your car's diagnostics port. Cost in GB, about £300.

Tell them what you want to achieve, the files are custom-made for each car and customer... and come to an arrangement for a re-working or a reset to original if you ain't happy.

Modern car engines are controlled through a chip. It's a re-programmable chip.

When cars in Europe leave the factory they are programmed for average performances in average conditions, average temperatures for instance... so a car made in say Germany is programmed for average German driving on average German Autobahns and German temperatures ... and not the heat of a CY summer or on CY mountain roads.

It's a about optimising a car engine for your style of driving and the local conditions where you drive.

Then give it a dyno tune to bring back its original power and more.

Yes but it’s done differently. Buy a good sized sledge hammer and I’ll show you.
