How exactly have we done that?

Where is the ‘trnc’ at these international games being held in Turkey? Nowhere. There is only one legitimate, official representative of the island and it is flying the Republic of Cyprus’s flag in Turkey. And Turkey has to accept it because it has no choice.

1. This has nothing to do with us or anything to do with us going or not.
2. The participating countries are the Olympic countries which would have gone to Volos (if there was no economic crisis). Turkey has no choice but allow the RoC flag which she does not recognize because of her Olympic bid.
3. Turkey has not suddenly changed her mind about the "trnc" and its status because of the above. We have not forced her to do anything - the situation is how it's always been at other quasi-Olympic games.
4. We have to wait and see what and how Turkey springs her "trnc" athletes into the arena over the next few days.

As I said, we have wasted a golden opportunity to highlight why Turkey does not deserve to host the 2020 Olympics - where she will definitely push something through for the "trnc".

The Athletes from the occupied zone which calls itself the trnc should be allowed to participate, but only under the flag of the ROC as a part of the ROC team through being affiliated as appropriate to clubs who are registered with the recognised governing body of their sport in the ROC and only if they legally qualify as Citizens of the Roc. The spawn of settlers are Turks so can only compete under the the Turkish flag.

So we should boycott the Mediterranean games because Turkey doesn’t recognise us? Is that what you’re saying? Why should we allow Turkey to dictate our participation in international sporting events?

Unless Turkey is daft enough to pull a stunt we have every right to be there and fly the flag of the Republic.

Meanwhile the ‘trnc’ is banned from participating in major international sporting events - even when they take place in Turkey. While Turkey is obliged to accept the participation of the ROC - even when events take place in Turkey.

This whole thing shows that Turkey is unable to enforce its will upon the international community with regards to Cyprus. That’s why we should be there.

The impact is more significant for the Roc to participate in these games in that it highlights the legitimacy of the ROC in front of the world and to the Turks. The ROC boycotting the games would be nothing more then a pinprick to the 2020 Olympic committee and if Turkey wants to highlight the pseudo state athletes in some way then they'll get suspended from future events the same way they were suspended from F1 Formula racing with the Talat B.S...

We would look pretty silly if Greece boycotted the games for our sake but we still went along, oblivious!

Anyway, time will tell ...

Meanwhile - Good luck to the team and hope they make it worthwhile.
