We just never learn.

The Cyprus athlete delegation should boycott this event and not disgrace the RoC by attending. They can also draw attention to not feeling safe in Turkey especially under the recent Police-brutality shows and achieve something worthwhile by highlighting the disgraceful fascist administration running Turkey.

Yes, but mixing politics with sport will just not end very well and the fallout will not be in our favour!

That is why you should stay out of politics!

Not to mention the fact that cypriot teams have been going to Turkey for years now, and Turkish teams have been coming to Cyprus by entering the Larnaca port of entry to boot!

You tell Greece to boycott in our honour and leave Cyprus out of your nonsense, please!

Paphiti, you are wrong. By accepting to play in these locations or with Turkish teams, is akin to sitting down playing a game of tavli with a rapist that took your wife and daughter, just so that you can show what a good little boy you are.

We have to have some dignity, they do not recognise us, we should show them the same. By constantly bending over to Turkey and the likes means our head is always down and we are always taking it, it that what you want???

People who excuse their wrongful actions by saying 'I don't do politics' are worst than the offenders themselves in my books.

Cyprus should not go or have anything to do with Turkey as things stand, what Greece does is up to her.

B25, I do not believe I am wrong so we will leave it at that and accept the fact that we disagree on this and so forth. No big deal.

I see why you have your opinion, and I understand.

But our Football teams went to Turkey and Turkish football Teams have come to the RoC. If we pull out of these sporting events now, the Turks are just going to say that we are mixing politics with sport and that they had the decency to send their sporting teams to the RoC as Good Will to Cyprus. Yes I know it is pathetic but that is what I think will happen and I think the RoC know it as well. That is how the rest of the world will see it to. The Turks would be handed a propaganda gift and they will use it.

Warm welcome for Cypriot athletes in Turkey

Mersin`s Med Village, set up for the Mediterranean Games "Mersin 2013" in Turkey, welcomed the Cypriot delegation during the official ceremony on Tuesday, ahead of the opening of the 17th Mediterranean Games on June 20.

According to the Cyprus Olympic Committee, the ceremony was held at the Med Village on the university campus, accommodating the teams of the 24 countries participating in the Games.

The "mayor" of Mersin Med Village welcomed Cyprus and exchanged gifts with head of the Cypriot mission and Director General of the Cyprus Olympic Committee Olga Piperidou Chrysafi, followed by the national anthem and the raising of the Cypriot flag next to those of the other participating countries.

I wonder if Dervis Eroglu will be presenting any of the gold medals to the winning Cypriot Athletes!

Or did he lose his job already as "mukhtar" of the "trnc" military boot camp?

He probably won't be allowed to because the "trnc" is not recognised ny anyone including Turkey, and they probably learned their lesson from the Istanbul F1 GP!

No, what'll happen, is, if any of our athletes win any medals, they will raise the 'trnc' flag instead of the RoC flag. That would be the icing on the cake! :)
