I haven't got the statistics yet.
But I'll bet my bottom dollar that the death/accident rate of Cyprus correlates with that of Greece.

Why would there be any correlation with Greece? :?

Here are the 2008 figures... I couldn't quickly find anything newer:

With just about everything else as well.

Have been saying this for many, many a year.
Although I don't blame the Greeks directly, I blame Cypriots for aspiring to what they (mistakenly) think as the pinnacle of civilization.
Now with wide use of the internet and Cypriots travelling abroad, many are discovering otherwise.

I sincerely hope I have not offended anyone.

Good find! Click on the little arrow of the second column to get them sorted by number of fatalities.

Greece, Turkey and Albania are always together in many things because they’re the same gypsies.

Blame the parents, adults who set such poor examples...

... such as not wearing seat belts, children unrestrained on back seats, drinking and driving, driving whilst gabbing away on the phone etc etc

Lawless culture.
Yes, blame the parents, but for Gawds sake also blame the system for creating this lawless mentality.

Well, none of you seem to be able to understand statistics.

The important figures to compare are number of fatalities per 1,000 cars, not people because car-ownership differs from country to country.

- In which case (sadly in all respects) Cyprus is 23.6 and Greece is 21 - so there is NO significant difference

[For Get Real!'s obsessions: Albania is 127 per car and Turkey is 97.1 per car.]

There seems to be a total anarchy on the roads, especially where my apartment is close to the sea front, these young hooligans speed along ignoring any limits, making a horrific deafening noise with their cars and bikes.

They spoil the beauty of the sea front, and by the way they all have bloody horrible beards!!!

Mobile use whilst driving is a ...must, texting whilst negotiating a round about, especially the young women !!

Another rather annoying " cultural" thing is the absence of prices in many shops. On my last visit I popped in a shoe shop asking for the price of a pair of loafers. 120, she replied! A bit much isn't it I responded. Yes, but they are Italian she quickly told me.
Its not a Ferrari or a Lamborghini I resorted, just a pair of average loafers.
If you cant afford it don't buy she replied. Just bought two pairs of loafers in the UK, PAID 24.95 FOR THE BOTH!!!
Poor Cypriots, I feel sorry for them, being fleeced off RL&C.

Along the seafront there are numerous cafes, full of beards, women too, cost of an espresso 3.50 !!!
What an absolute rip off!
