eu right never wanted terkey. they cannot stop it even if they wanted. they have to wait till terkey changes the oppressive laws they have and then they will have to be accepted. eu has no choice. especially now that they have offered to open the ports for roc. nothing can stop them.

Hasn't Erdogan just been using the EU and making demands and threats Lordo? Don't you keep telling us that Turkey doesn't really want to join the EU? Don't you keep telling us that you dont really want to join the EU? Doesn't it show?

Perhaps the EU might be looking for an excuse to break off the negotiations.

The secularist and Kurds as well as the other groups on the streets want to join, but the Anatolian conservatives don't as it will mean giving up on some power to impose their rules on the general population.

Given that the Anatolians are ion power currently any progress will have to wit for a new government and that depends on what happens on the streets and how well organised the opposition parties are.

It can be stopped, I am sure.

In my view the process should never have been started.....at least not until Turkey had made some substantial moves to democratise (and taken the troops out of Cyprus) on its own and outside of any EU accession process.

In my opinion unless Turkey deconstructs herself, come to terms with the Armenian Genocide, the Kurdish question and overall human rights and withdraws from Cyprus. The Turk nation will be going back and forth between Islamict and Secularist until it breaks apart.

I thought you kept telling us that Turkey doesn't want to join the EU?
