There's nothing we can legally do. Whether we like it or not, if our leaders do not seek a two-republic formula now of two autonomous entities of 22% and the rest Greek Cypriot, we will loose all of the 37% to the Turkish Cypriots. Think about it, if we haven't managed to persuade the world since 1974 that the Turkish Invasion was wrong, we'll never be able to accomplish this now that Turkey is gaining even more political and economic influence.
Just look at the facts:
1) Turkey's Economic power is growing.
2) Its relationship with China, the OIC and the Turkic states are playing a very important role in the future economic stability of the EU; Oil, exports and etc.
3) America's policy on Iraq; Kurdish oil rich state in the North can only happen with the help of Turkey.
4) Soon, the OIC, Turkic states and many more will recognise the so-called TRNC.
If we do not throw a spanner in the works and force a two-Republic solution according to OUR INTERESTS, we will have to settle with a 36% percent lost. If we request a two-republic Cyprus now, we will at least gain Famagusta, Morphou and most of the land along the buffer zone. While, if we wait any longer, we will have to accept every nation recognising the TRNC besides us.
We are running out of time, even the Great CLERIDES said that we will be forced to recognise the TRNC of 37% if we continue believe that Cyprus will be united. Just imagine what will happen if a new Annan Plan is written and we say no. The Turkish Cypriot administration has nothing to loose, but we certainly do.
Are we that ignorant and blind?
