Deal Over Occupied Famagusta...???

How can we solve it? (keep it civilized)

...the fact remains that the so called GC that vp refers to, do not exist. there is no equal because there is only a Turkish Constituency. if Cypriot Constituencies existed, it would be possible for them to come to unanimity as Persons, based on equality, and needs. with this credibility, (since Sovereignty is not a question) it would be possible for the State to secure these Liberties, for the People it remains committed to, without distinction or discrimination, its Citizens as Sovereign, equal as Individuals, as Cypriots Free.

...by his own definition, vp is a chav, bigOz; nor can he say, "i love Cyprus".

i ask you, for an airport to trade a city, don't you think that that's a little small in thinking, (what with the fact that the airport is illegal on so many levels, and that the occupation is as well)? why not ask for a political equal, a Greek Constituency; if not the recognition of a State, the recognition of a state (so that the Republic can be freed to represent Cypriots, not as "Greeks" or "Turks")?

...and with the hope of Famagusta, because that has to do with Turkey and the Humility she may represent for her own wrongdoings, a clearer path toward ending the Problem, new thinking which will naturally evolve to a Republic which she cannot reasonably refuse, because there is respect and recognition for more than the overwhelming majority (who are not "Turkish"), in a manner where it, as a template, may offer others (and herself) a Bicommunal solution (three (or more) representative bodies, not "two" as it is today), they can emulate.

...so i ask again, what about a Greek Constituency (for Famagusta: given that a Republic must exist, and a Turkish Constituency seeks recognition)?

More on the survey with TCs living in the Varosha area calling for the return of Varosha to its legal owners:

73 % support for returning Varosha

NICOSIA – Seventy-three per cent of the participants of a survey conducted by the non-governmental Famagusta Initiative, supports the view of opening the Famagusta Port and Varosha to international trade and to the settlement of its legal owners.” Only four per cent “strongly” disagree with this view.

According to the news report in Gazeddakibris.com, the Famagusta Initiative announced the results of the survey it conducted on Varosha and the Famagusta Port. According to the Initiative, 90 per cent of the participants believe that opening Varosha and the Famagusta Port would improve the economy in the region and reduce unemployment.
The survey also included questions on the effects of opening Varosha and Famagusta Port on the Cyprus problem. Fifty-eight per cent of the participants stated that opening Varosha and the Famagusta Port would have a positive impact on the comprehensive solution of the Cyprus problem. 15 per cent said this would have a negative impact, while 11 per cent said it would have no effect at all.

Fifty per cent of the participants did not agree with the statement: “The Famagusta Port and Varosha should remain as they are in the lack of a solution to the Cyprus problem.” According to the survey results, 59.3 per cent of participants believe that opening Varosha and the Famagusta Port would have a positive effect on bi-communal relations, 23 per cent believe that this would have a negative effect, and 13 per cent believe that this would have no effect at all.

The survey was conducted over the phone among 403 people of the age of 18 and over living in the Famagusta region.

So there we have it, once again reminding us that people like VP and other agents of "trnc" post a load of intransient and fabricated fascist rubbish.

73 % support for returning Occupied Varosi in this poll of the CYs of the Occupied Areas.

Nice one.

I to support the return of Maras but my condition is the opening of Ercan and famagusta Ports, now do you get it? The important question is what do these people expect in return and do they know that the port will become part of the GC side?

You are an idiot. How can the GCs say no to a deal they have proposed?

The survey does not mention the airport. 73 per cent of TCs surveyed support the return of Varosha in exchange for the opening of the port to trade. Moreover the majority think the return of Varosha would contribute towards a solution.

So there we have it, proof that Viewpoint does not speak for the overwhelming majority of Turkish Cypriots who he refers to as 'these people'.

These people, Viewpoint, are the majority of the community in the north. Where does that leave you?

i think you are only a little deluded. lets have a look at the numbers. 403 people interviewed over the telephone in the magusa area. how accurate is this survey when compared with the rest of cyprus. how accurate is the survey when the participants are all in one area and god only knows how they were selected. 293 people views suddenly becomes facts and the majority view of tcs in the north. yeah right and pigs will fly too.

get over it. unless ercan and magusa port is opened there will be no exchange. in any case maras should go to the actual owners which is efgaf but thats for another day.

Surveys are always a statistical sample. In this case, the outcome represents an overwhelming majority of Turkish Cypriots surveyed in the Varosha area in favour of returning the town to its legal GC owners and opening the port. Get over it!
