When was Ercan offered? and at what cost? details please...as far as we can gather from people we know on our side this is whats up for debate right now....if Turkey is to open her ports to the Gcs then the GCs have to agree to Ercan and Famagusta otherwise no deal...as the GCs will once again not play ball.

vp there is no connection in the chapters between terkish ports and ercan.

it is very simple ercan for varosa. terkey will open her ports for nothing. and of course the greek cypriot ports will also open for terkey. and then not even kristostomos will be able to help their economy. i am visulalising minarets everywhere in the south. god help us all.

It’s not that simple. Turkey blundered and missed the chance to open its ports for nothing. It attached conditions and boxed itself into a corner. Even Turkish diplomats admit they screwed up.

Instead of getting a clear run on its EU accession process for years to come they wanted something in return. Now they daren’t open their ports for fear they will look like they are making a concession.

And now there are bigger chips on the table. Smart move of the GCs to bring Varosha into the equation. We might just call your bluff on Ercan. Personally I doubt that Turkey is going to return Varosha in exchange for a few direct charter flights a week to the occupied areas. As the airport would have to be under ROC sovereignty and EU supervision, I doubt the ‘prize’ would be big enough for Turkey. Let’s wait and see.

Without Ercan in the equation nothing will move forward, I only hope the GCs are clever and call the TCs bluff but looking at their track record I doubt it very much.

you still dont get it though. what terkey does regarding joining the eu is upto her. there is no spec in any of the chapters that :
1. she has to remove her troops
2. she has to hand over any land.

sooner you appreciate that the sooner the problem will be resolved.

as far as varosa is concerned, you have missed the boat. once you were given it for no preconditions except to attend negotiations. you refused. talat offered it to open ercan and you refused. you offered that to eroglu and of course he is going to refuse it. just as christofias said. eroglu will win and solve all our problems. what were the problems he was going to solve. i wonder if you are aware of those.

reading from your posts i suspect you and the rest of the fanatics here are cluless, and i include shitapu in this group.

You are living on another planet if you think that Turkey’s EU accession is not dependant upon a solution in Cyprus that is acceptable to Greek Cypriots.

Now bugger off and stop wasting everyone’s time.

Yes, stop wasting everyone's time with your inability to understand anything despite all of the progress reports and a clear outline and roadmap of what must be accomplished for full member status.

Things have only gone from bad to worse with Turkey as a candidate country because Turkish officials and the majority of Turks clearly do not have a clue.

For what must be the tenth time ...

The deal which included the "airport" at Occupied Tymbou (and which was prob a bit of kite-flying from Stephan Fule) was rejected by the Intransigent Regime of "trnc".

Go and look up the press in the Occupied Areas from about three weeks ago, or consult the Baycrap archive.

you obviusly do not read my posts. i said of course eroglu will refuse it. had shistofias offered it to talat then it would have been accepted. naturally he was not interested in peace and not only did not offer it but refused it when talat offered it to him.

what an ass you people are. the honey is in spoon infront of your face and you turn your ass at it.
